Friends, our political differences often come to the top around here, but I come to you this evening with a proposal I hope will achieve a broad, multipartisan base of support. Let Americans remember that we are first, and foremost, Americans. Let us remember that we are a people of shared culture and values, and show our unity of purpose with what I bring for tonight. It has been too damned long since I had a 3-day weekend. I'm well accustomed to holding odd opinions, but I think I might be in the mainstream on this. I propose we begin a campaign for a new, national holiday honoring.... Well, we'll figure out what we're honoring later. Maybe a sub-committee. What matters is that we honor it on the second Monday in April. No religious figures allowed. For those concerned about the cost, perhaps the time has come to drop Columbus Day. Nobody gets it off anymore anyway, and the Italians would be as welcome to a floating holiday as the Irish are in March. Maybe we can come up with "the REAL ML King birth certificate, proving he was actually born on April 10th, and just move that one. Happy 3-day! It has been too long.
