rulemylife - you seem to have confused your opinions for facts and my facts for opinions.

You have offered no original ideas beyond gain saying me. Too simple. You are trying to set victory conditions for others while ignoring any obligation that you have to substantiate your opinion.

I don't need to provide you with any more links than this thread already contains. It is self evident that wearing a seatbelt keeps you in your seat. That's a no-brainer. You have provided no cogent reply to that yet you keep pounding the same drum - that's it's my responsibility to meet your bogus victory conditions.

I can't ask you to clarify your position because you have not established one. And I don't know why you would waste your time replying to me since your replies are devoid of sense.

Empty barrels make the most noise.

Zensee, stripped of all the "freedom" rhetoric, the position distills to:

"Waaaa! I don't wanna! And you can't make me! Nyah nyah!"

I'm sure that people can dig up links all day long 'proving' that we never went to the moon, or that the earth is flat, or that GWBush blew up the Twin Towers.
And I have no doubt that with enough straw arguments that safety devices don't work 100% of the time, anyone can support which ever side of a debate they wish.

But speciouslogic still tap dances around the question of why everyone else should pay the costs associated with pseudo-'rebels' pretending that no rules, not even gravity, much less personal responsibility, apply to them.

I agree.  Let me ask though, do you smoke, do you drink, do you exercise, is McDonald's your primary source of sustenance?  Have you ever littered, jaywalked, ran a red light?  If so, I've paid for your personal irresponsibility in some way.  Again, it goes back to the original question of "when will it end?".

Ummm ... how would you have to pay for someone else drinking, exercising or eating at McDonald?  I can see some of the others but unless you bought him a happy meal, a double shot of scotch, or a gym membership, those three don't count.

If you change it to driving while drinking that one might hold up.

Considering that your whole reply is just empty berating of me, I'm still offering what I've already offered to you repeatedly.  Tell me what you want me to substantiate and I'm more than happy to do so.  And maybe think about switching to decaffeinated.

Because, if you hold to the theory being put forth by some here, then your unhealthy habits will eventually cause you to become sick and your increased health care costs, if you have insurance, will result in increased rates for everyone.  If you don't have insurance, and engage in unhealthy habits, then society will still pay resulting in higher taxes for you personally.  It is likely true, but how far do you want your personal habits legislated to "benefit society"?

So, if I exercise, its going to cost society?  Since when is exercising unhealthy?  After rereading, I see that you said McDonald's as Primary sustenance.  Won't that make people die faster so that they are a burden on society for less time?
Drinking is debatable.  Many physicians still hold that drinking in small amounts is not unhealthy but can actually help the body.  I have to agree that if you drink yourself to death over many years, society may have to pay for some medical care.  But how much did you contribute through the amazing taxes that we have on alcohol in this country?

I still have to disagree on two.  I'll give you McDonald's.  Hell, I'll even buy you a Happy Meal.

Maybe I didn't word it clearly enough but I was referring to not getting exercise.  As far as not being a burden on society, that's an argument you should be making to someone else here as I already said I would rather die quick without a helmet than live as a quadriplegic because I didn't want anyone to think I was a "rebel".

NOT exercising.  NOW I'm with you.  Makes perfect sense.  Lightbulb over the head is switched to "On."

No, I've asked you to clarify and cite your facts, which you still have not done.   I'm not trying for "victory".  This isn't a pissing contest, although you seem intent on turning it into one.  If your facts are well-known and obvious then you should be easily able to document them in just a few spare minutes of your time.  These are your own words:

Seatbelts are designed to reduce the likelihood and degree of injury in a collision. They also keep you in the driver's seat during emergent situations. This is a well known point of fact. It is also part of the standard operating procedures of responsible professional transportation companies. Seat belts are required 1) for driver safety - 2) to improve driver control in emergent situations.

If you are unable to comprehend this simple fact we have nothing more to discuss. Go for a drive and knock yourself out.
