His suffering is over, which while not being much by way of comfort, helps a bit.

What comfort can I offer, what words of wisdom? The intellect understands you should be happy he isnt suffering but the heart is selfish. One of your sources of love and comfort is gone. How do we mend this? Can we? All we can do is love you, offer you support and tell you its completely acceptable to feel  a gamut of emotions. We will be here for all of it. (((hugs)))

It is nigh impossible to say anything that can assuage your grief.....

With the possible exception that I have heard it said that blowjobs  are alot more satisfying and angelic in heaven, I am sure that, he; at least, will take some comfort in that.

Death Is Just a Stage of Life

Letting a loved one go
Is never an easy task.
But setting their spirit free
May be what our Father asks.

For when someone dies
An agreement has been reached,
Between their soul and God.
It's a promise that can't be breached.

Struggling to understand death
Is like wandering through a maze.
For death is just a part of life,
It's only another stage.

So we really shouldn't question
God's timing or His grace,
For when we leave these Earthly bonds
We'll see God's smiling face.

What better reward in Heaven
Could there possibly be
Than to rest with God eternally?
Oh, what a joy that will be!

So how can we deny
Someone we really love
A chance to be in Heaven
Safe with God above?


ETA... I didn't write this, but found the words comforting in my own recent time of sorrow.

Thank you, Linea and all the rest.  He struggled very hard and the doctors did everything that they could.  It was too much for him.  I love you all for your sweetness.

(ps:  a public service announcement of sorts - if someone passes away that you are close to, don't even dream of bitching out others who grieve differently than you.  Some people want the chance to "say goodbye" and others prefer to take the memories that they have and treasure them, without seeing the loved one in a state of suffering or ill health.  However people deal with death and dying, let that be a personal choice without placing judgment on those who deal with things differently than you.)

I just read this to my father and we both were moved to tears as this is exactly the way we are feeling at this time.

i am so very sorry for your loss. i can say from experience it does get a little better each day. reading these wonderful replies has to let you know that everyone has you intheir hearts and prayers. There is no place like that in times like these. As trite as it seems, please know i am here if you need me. I'm really not that far.
Find peace and know our memories keep our loved ones inside our hearts....what a wonderful place. Love you. You and yours are in my prayers and thoughts.

this month is the 2 year anniversay of my Dad's passing. reading this poem gave me a peacefullness.

aww honey, I am so sorry.. I lit a candle for him at church this morning. ( I am just reading this now)

It is so hard when a loved one leaves us. Much harder for us then it is for them most times.

I hope the spirit of peace, comfort and light finds you and your family at this time and tends to your hurt his leaving causes. You are all in my thoughts.
