okay...so....how many more aliens type movies are they going to make....my god...they might as well have called this aliens 4:attack on new york

the first 20 minutes of this movie were so fucking boring...and you didnt even get a good shot of the monster until the very end...it was a cool shot of it...but still.

the movie was ultra short...like 1 hr 13 minutes....technically only an hour...since the first part was just some kids at a party.

im glad i never saw it in the theater...i would have demanded my money back.

so then....if a monster attacked your city....what would you do? apparently they nuked new york since they couldnt destroy the monster...so your lead to think they did...wonder if they will make a cloverfield 2...OF COURSE THEY WILL.

i thought it was a little interesting, but the jiggly camera effects got to me a bit. the big monster was very cool, wish they would have shown more of that.

They're working on the script for Cloverfield 2 as we speak...

I didn't think it was the worst movie I've ever seen but it was a gimmick film and I really didn't care for the characters...

Now Die Hard, there was a gimmick to that - real time plot line/trapped in a bulding - but I really cared for John and Holly and hoped they would survive and their marriage would survive. That first half hour - too slow by today's standards of film making is wonderful as it sets up the chracters and you grow to care about them or really hate them...like the main villian.

Cool explosions too....

Great lines too:

[after McClane sets off massive explosion]
John McClane: Is the building on fire?
Sergeant Al Powell: No, but it's gonna need a paint job and a shit load of screen doors.

It was a classic attempt to create an American version of a city wrecking Godzilla. It had a good raw feel to it but that gimmick got pretty obnoxious after a while. I hope they do a Cloverfield 2, it wwill be nice to see them do a better job.

probably has the lone survivor that got away in the first chopper. it will likely portray new york after the nuclear bomb. that of course didnt even have a single effect on the monster other than making it more fucked up looking and much stronger. it will have made its way into toronto canada wrecking its way thru niagra falls.
