Des, I live in the country and have DSL.   However, since a fiber optic trunk line actually runs 100 yards from the house, I am trying to figure out how to tap that and boost my bandwidth.  I am sure that no one would notice someone digging a ditch across the road and two neighbors yards.

Have to make it an underground tunnel Jeff, come in from underneath the fiber optic trunk line.  Just get a lot of buckets and a whole platoon of people to bring out the dirt.

The vote on the antenna is that it's damned near as slow as dial-up. All the stuff we were promised was just lies.

You might show this to the man. I have no idea if it would work for whatever system you put in, but it looks like a neat idea!

Heh heh heh.

So, I'm at the pharmacy counter where I'm well known (unfortunately) picking up some urgently needed...

[me, wheezing, says to the doc "so, I guess I should've filled that Singulair prescription ,eh?"  his succinct reply: "well, duh!"]

...prescriptions.  I twisted to put something on the counter and fired off a weird muscle in my lower right back that makes me cuss like a sailor when it locks up.

They were freaking out until I could stop swearing long enough to tell them it wasn't a problem.  I seriously thought they were going to jump over the counter to rescue me!  We had a good laugh about it, including the spectators.

Now Winsome and Hilly are making me wheeze with laughter over the amount of...ummmm...waste a canine can produce, over on the "I admit" thread.  Naughty people!!

Big doggies = biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig piles of *ahem* waste.  My sister has a chocolate lab to prove it.  Maybe that's why my niece originally named him "Chocolate Mousse".  Nuffin to do with her hereditary love of chocolate.  Blame my sister for that one.

Same story with parrots.  Macaws and such are glorious, but damn can they drop some bombs, especially the "morning" bomb!

I had a big ole 20 lb black tomcat who could drop some mighty powerful bombs when he wanted to, and he wanted to a lot of the time.

Well, this has been interesting. If she had not fallen asleep I think that I would just go back to teaching Butterhead to sing, "He's Not Heavy, He's My Brother."

My phone just rang. A mere 17 days and I have service again.
And you know who called me? A computer soliciting money for Heart Disease!
They could have left it turned off.

I found a weeks old bottle of flat beer in the fridge, I have made a crusty beer bread with it. Now onto zucchini bread. And tomorrow I shall deal with the pumpkin.

I spent the morning shopping for children's clothing. I made Meatball Soup for dinner. Those are the highlights from my day.

Passes the wine bottle to Aylee. Sounds like you need it worse than me.

Much was accomplished, but I am still searching for nightgowns. Have they stopped making them for little girls? Do I need to go buy a pattern and some material?

But as far as fall and winter wardrobe goes, I have it covered.

More examples of terminally stupid people, those lunatics that, FOR FUN, go climbing around ACTIVE volcanoes that are spewing rocks and stuff into the air.

People who poke rattle snakes with a stick.

And finally, people who put Metal rimmed coffee cups in the micro wave... and wonder why they sparked.

I was helping with a conference and traced down an odd metallic smell to the ceiling of the kitchen.  I thought, "Shit.  We're going to have to evacuate while the FD traces down the electrical wire fire that's in the ceiling."

Cooler heads prevailed and the smell was traced even further to the micro-wave.  Seems that, during the break, one of the other employees had dropped his cell-phone into the toilet, and you guessed it, was trying to dry it out.

aaaaand my contribution to the stories of the terminally stupid, from the world of Healthcare:

1) the patient who said he was having pain when using suppositories. When questioned, it turned out he wasn't removing the foil first.

2) the patient who was told she had a urinary tract infection said that no she didn't. Turned out she had kept the urine sample in her house for a few days...out of the fridge yet.

I just sauteed a banana in butter and brown sugar and ate it with a bowl of ice cream. Life is good!

My pie should be cool enough in about 30 minutes. I agree, 'Life is good!'

Well, I just ate some animal crackers and whipped cream......not on the scale of your delights, but it took care of the sweet tooth.  I can't wait for payday!
