Hell, I had to have vaccinations to get into college! Back in '91 I needed DPT, MMR, and a TB test. Plus an exam by my doc.

The year before, there was a measles epidemic on campus because so many students lacked the vaccination.

It worked well for me, since I'd been vaccinated around 1961 when the vaccine was ineffective.

Aylee - there is a vaccination against chicken pox. Not only does it keep your kidlet from getting it, it protects her classmates, which is as, if not more, important.

She has had the Varicella vaccine. It was the idea that you would take your child to the doctor for chickenpox with no complications. I suppose that you could have a titer (sp?) test done for it.

Butterhead and Roscoe's vaccines are up to date. In fact, they have had extra vaccines. RSV for Roscoe, and Butterhead got the rabies shots.

Herd immunity is a good thing. It irritates me when parents do not vaccinate their children.

ORIGINAL: soul2share

So, they want you to take her to the doc's because she HAD chicken pox? Or because she hasn't?

Proof of vaccine on the shot card OR documentation by the doctor that she had chickenpox's. No, she has never had chickenpox.

quote:

And unless things have changed in 35 years, I thought once you got a childhood disease, you couldn't contract it again. Polio and smallpox were the big worries when I was a kid. Now it's my understanding that they barely exist anymore.

Some people are susceptible to getting chickenpox more than once.

quote:

Lord, I'm glad I don't have to do all that to get a kid into school. Heck, when I went, the only thing you had to do was get a few shots. The only time you needed a physical was if you were playing sports....and even then, it was just to make sure you had two of everything you should have and nothing extra. Sounds like a huge pain in the tookus now.

Yeah, I did not realize that there would be all of this rigmarole.

But, she is enjoying pre-school and next month they have a field trip to the Topeka Zoo. I think that she will really like that.

Aylee, I think they want proof she's been vaccinated against it. The pediatrician will know, they do tons of these exams. They want to make sure the kid is healthy and they have a doctor's note about any problems. You obviously are trustworthy to tell them if she had a peanut allergy but there are lots of stupid people in this world.

Thanks!

After talking with a friend of mine who has her son in a different school district, it looks like I am making out well with everything. Another plus is that Butterhead will have a Friend at the same elementary school. She will be in first grade while Butterhead is in Kindergarten, but there will be someone that she knows. YAY!

Hey, all you computer savvy folk....I'm having an issue that I can't seem to find an answer for. Suddenly, when I visit websites that I've used forever, I'm getting the little information bar thingy telling me that content is being blocked that has security certificate errors. This is with ALL of the sites I've been on the last couple of days. I haven't done anything with my settings, I've only cleared the history and things that you clear out under the Tools/Internet options app. This is happening on ALL of the sites, whether they are secure transaction sites or just for fun.

Anyone have any idea what i may have inadvertantly done to cause this? Or, heaven forbid, have I picked up some bug that can't be spotted? I've run all my anti-virus stuff.

Is the information bar coming from Windows, or an anti-virus program? Have you had any upgrades recently?

Aylee, I also suggest taking her to the school during the summer, and walking around it until she feels comfortable that she can find her classroom from the front door. We did this with my son every time he changed schools, K - 2, 3-5, middle school which is a rabbit warren and the high school which had a new wing that led you in circles. If you can borrow the older kid for the day who already knows the school, that will help.

Already set up. Kindergarten starts one day later than 1-5 so she will actually come on the day before to learn her way around and her classroom. There is also a dance and bounce-house evening in May that she can go to. There is also a back to school potluck. She got her first school t-shirt today. They also took her picture and her pre-school teacher came and took pictures of the classroom to make a book for her to look at over the summer.

ok, this is strange...I am once again trying to see if this works. I'm having computer issues that I can't find an answer for, so if any of you computer savvy folk can help, it'd be great. For what it's worth, this is the third time I've tried to post here and I can't see th e post.

All of a sudden, in the last few days, I'm getting the information bar proclaiming that content has been blocked due to security certificate problems. These are from sites I've always been on, not new ones. I have no idea what I may have done, and can't seem to word the question properly to get an actual help answer from anyplace on the web. I get explanations about what the certificate is, but not on how I might have triggered it. I've done a restore, did all the emptying out of my caches and Internet stuff, ran virus programs....everything that I can think of, and I'm still getting the damn bar. Is there something I did to turn it on? I dont' fool around with alot of the stuff on the computer because I have no clue what I'm doing. It completely shut out my facebook, tells me there's an issue with the certificate...it's getting worse, first it was the info bar, now I just get the STOP! warning.

Help!!??

Now, I am really confused.....the other two posts just showed up, when I came to the board, the last thing here was Aylee's post where she split up my post....#72362. I put up the third post, and all the rest show up! Damn computers!

Out, I'm not sure where it's coming from, it pops up on the top of the page with a little yellow bar with the message in it. There's an "X" to close the little bar. I think it's internet explorer since it indicates that IE is stopping it.......other than that, I have no idea where it's coming from.

I haven't loaded any updates myself, but have no idea how to check to see if IE did any without me knowing it. Honestly, what I know about computers you can stick in your eye and not feel a thing!

Shar, I'm not too far from that stage right now.....I just went back to the board list page, hit the H&P show one again, and it stopped at Aylee's post I mentioned....I hit the refresh button, and it came up correctly....WTF????? I know this site may be having some issues itself, but the info bar is coming up on all the sites I go to all the time.

http://deletemalware.blogspot.com/2010/01/how-to-remove-security-tool-virus-from.html

Step by step Security Tool removal instructions:

Method #1
1. Download iexplore.exe (NOTE: iexplore.exe file is renamed HijackThis tool from TrendMicro).
Launch the iexplore.exe and click "Do a system scan only" button. If you can't open iexplore.exe file then download explorer.scr and run it.

2. Look for similar line in the scan results:
O4 – HKLM\..\Run: [24025916] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\24025916\24025916.exe

The process name will be different in your case [SET OF RANDOM NUMBERS].exe, located in:
C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Local Settings\Application Data\ for Windows XP
C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\Application Data\ for Windows Vista & 7
Select all similar entries and click once on the "Fix checked" button. Close HijackThis tool.

OR you may download Process Explorer and end Antivirus Action process:

•[SET OF RANDOM NUMBERS].exe, i.e. 24025916.exe
3. Download free anti-malware software from the list below and run a full system scan.

•MalwareBytes Anti-malware
•SUPERAntispyware
•Spybot S&D
•Spyware Doctor
NOTE: in some cases the rogue program may block anti-malware software. Before saving the selected program onto your computer, you may have to rename the installer to iexplore.exe or winlogon.exe With all of these tools, if running Windows 7 or Vista they MUST be run as administrator. Launch the program and follow the prompts. Don't forget to update the installed program before scanning.

4. New threats appear every day. In order to protect your PC from such (new) infections we strongly recommend you to use ESET Smart Security

I got it, Aylee, apparently, I can use the Malware thing on a trial basis, and I ran it. I also discovered that my Norton had expired, and located the McAfee thru ATT with my uverse account, downoaded that many times, but have no clue if it's here, I can't find it, there's no desktop icon, it's not in my control panel, and there's no search engine in my toolbars. I'm going to try to call att tomorrow (today) and see if they can tell me if it's downloaded or not.

Damn...I hate technology!

Celeste, my neighbors downstairs had a 5 year old, unfortunately, they just moved out....I could've probably had her fix it!

Actually, I have some of it sorted out. After spending 45 minutes in chat w/an AT&T "specialist", I fell across the Norton Removal Tool and was fnially able to get rid of the old Norton program I had w/comcast. I was finally able to download the McAFee that comes with my U-Verse....I thought it downloaded automatically as part of the set-up, but it didn't. So I at least have that.

I'm still getting the Certificate message, and the game apps in my FB won't open due to a certificate "error", and McAfee tagged Collarme as a site that is "risky". Collarchat is ok, but the other side isn't. Sort of makes me wonder, because the site crawler breaking and the certificate issues all started at about the same time. I thought it was my computer, but now I wonder. I'm using IE8, and there is no certificate install icon on the page where there was on IE7.

Again, I HATE technology!
