Aside from the fact that proper conduct could be determined by looking around and seeing what all the other men are doing -  the boy is supposed to be such a hot shot lawyer, if ya listen to him spewing about his law background you would think hes F Lee Bailey and the ghost of Johnny Cochran rolled into one... For private citizens, it's a minor issue, but one would think that a public figure and Presidential wannabe would at least have some passing familiarity with the proper etiquette regarding the flag and the national anthem....

then maybe one of his first acts as president should be to remove laws that shouldnt have been made?
I can accept that there is a religious reason behind him not placing his hand over his heart, hell, there are 4 "mainstream" religions I can think of that have issue with that... so what is more important? A constitutional right, or a law that shouldnt have been made in the first place?

Only there isn't.  Obama's just careless about details.  Little things like etiquette (or how "tiny" Iran is) don't hold his interest.

And it's not a question of law but of etiquette....there is no sanction attendant upon not putting one's hand over their heart during the national anthem, save the scorn and derision reserved for crass, ill-mannered louts.

Status: offline 		As an Young Australian, i have followed the race for the White House due to the fact that no matter who wins, there will be an effect on Australia, i have nothing against America, absolutely nothing, however America in itself is a major corporate giant, what ever happens in America Effect Australia, and i, as i young Australian want to see changes and a lot of them, I am sick of America's choke hold on Australia (mind you it doesnt help that Kevin Rudd is a cock head) but America has a tendency to over step its bounderies when it comes to other countries, Australia only joined in the War of Iraq due to fears of Political Turmoil such as what happened to the French when they chose not to Join in the fight. America as country is a bully and a nasty one at that, it manipulates and scares other countries (as well as its own) into doing things that most countries wouldn't want to be involved in. This is just my point of view as a young Australian, Living under a gulliable government lead by a weasle who is being control by a selfish country, as i said its just my view.
It would be a lot better if America kept its polital views to itself and not try to impose them on other countries, to make America look better than it really is.
