I see it as just a recognition that there aren't any firm definitions for either term. Such a statement is simply an invitation to enter into a dialogue.

I guess it can be practical at times to have a submissive give you a back rub and a slave to fetch your shoes --- who knows maybe they just have a busy schedule?? Labels are just that, and they usually mean different things to different people, until you've actually talked with them you have no possibility of knowing. - I've talked with some that have stated that they see themselves as a submissive in some areas and as a slave in others. Not every submissive have clear cut definitions of themselves also, but are simply ready to explore further --- I believe having an open mind about matters is often a good thing.
