lol...  I should hope so.  What the heck is a wormpie anyway, and is there such a thing as a worthy one?

Thank you, blushes.  [:)]

I'd guess that it's a kink thing, they really feel that way, or they think that is how they are supposed to feel about themselves in this "world".

It's not our thing.

HalloweenWhite -> RE: Self-Diminishing submissive names (6/5/2008 11:15:48 AM)

I've always assumed it was just a short and sweet way of saying "Hey!, I'm submissive" or a slave. Much like Dommes may have "Maam" or "Mistress" in their names, or Doms who call themselves "Sir" or "Lord"-whoever.

Subs and slaves don't think they're worthless,you can tell by how they interact on the boards with Dommes/Doms-laughing and joking, making fun, things like that. I don't believe for 1 second that the vast majority of subs or slaves would put up with anyone who treated them as inherently inferior to anyone else in the lifestyle for a split second.

And if they were in general seen as inferior there wouldn't be much point in S.S.C or R.A.C.K because Dommes/Doms wouldn't be bothered about how They treated them.

I see a lot of these people as being very secure in thier views of themselves-that they can joke about it-and have fun with it.

It's the ones who are always puffing up about how "strong they are" that come across as to me as insecure.

Those worthless wormpie names send me running in the opposite direction.  I even got one of our local guys to change his name to something non-lowly.

I can dig the objectification fetish, but that is the kind of thing that can come out in conversation.  I will certainly objectify someone in a scene~~I will NOT bother with someone that considers himself lowly or beneath distinction.  Why would I??

There are women out there who hate men.  (As opposed to me, who simply dislikes them. [:D]).  Maybe they like stomping the lowly worms or having someone grovel at their feet and not make eye contact with the glorious domina.  Good for them!

Leatherist -> RE: Self-Diminishing submissive names (6/5/2008 11:54:00 AM)

No self respecting narcissist would EVER have a sub with a name like that-guilt by association yanno.[;)]

I'm changing my user name to "WantsCookies" cause that need has pretty much consumed my life for the past couple of minutes.

Its ok, you can blame me for that :P

To the dominants out there, does seeing a term like “worthless” in a submissive’s username attract you?  If so, why?  If it does not attract you, why not and do you think you could foreseeably look beyond such a moniker.

A woman (my only preference) who self-titles herself "worthless" is likely not the submissive I want. My submissive lady is as deferent to me as she could be, yet she is fully aware of the marvelous qualities she brings to our relationship as a person first and my submissive second.

A "worthless" woman would have to do some serious convincing that she valued herself enough to please me, meet my needs and help me meet hers.

My .02 zlotys. Your mileage may vary....

spinninsweetness -> RE: Self-Diminishing submissive names (6/5/2008 12:15:38 PM)

Good thread here, something I've wondered about before. For a while I thought these kind of names were profiles for trolls or people who join then never return, or create a profile to see who responds whilst having no desire for anything kinky at all.

But I realise after spending waaaaaaaay too much time perving, ahem, studying profiles, I find its simply a choice. Your username isnt the be all and end all of your personality. I keep reading messages on these here forums which seem so out of synch with the posters chosen moniker.

Its so hard when faced with the little box, thinking about how to show off yourself. Sometimes easy if its a name already used on another site or if you have a good idea of a succint way to sum yourself or who you are searching for up. I personally didnt want a name which was BDSM related cos I was (and still am) so very new at this. I chose a name which means pretty much anything, not domly or subly, just a name. I wouldnt put worthless, useless or brilliant most excellent sub in my name cos I'm neither end of the spectrum. Middleoftheroadsub didnt seem the best way to go!

LadyPact -> RE: Self-Diminishing submissive names (6/5/2008 12:16:53 PM)

The objectification thing isn't My thing at all, so whether a person would name themselves something like "worthlesswhatever" because it was their kink or because it was how they saw themselves, wouldn't get My attention.

Leatherist -> RE: Self-Diminishing submissive names (6/5/2008 12:20:00 PM)

A sense of humor, wild creativity, and the ability to make it through life without acting like you have a ram-rod up your ass......are what attract MY attention.

softness -> RE: Self-Diminishing submissive names (6/5/2008 12:35:26 PM)

Sir and I play a game  - the truth about profile names  (I won't explain the rules because I dont want to get Modded today) .. but its a great way to kill time in a busy/trolly chat room Sir is much better at it than me ... obviously because He is the Owner

profiles names are like the tag line on an advert - they have to convey the key information about the product
people use them to get across the key information they want people to have
- advertise a particular kink (slut_4_spanking)
- seem intersting and attractive (glittering_labia_slave)
- cover up some obviously lacking quality (UberStictContrlDom3)
using humilating or degrading words in your profile name is just an example of the first one - besides if they really felt worthless (like those emotions were *Really* all consuming) they wouldn't see the point in making the effort to create a profile, come online and troll for interest.

RCdc -> RE: Self-Diminishing submissive names (6/5/2008 12:51:17 PM)

It isn't an issue for me.  For me, it indicates what someones personality or fetish maybe - and as much an people might like to take the piss out of others names (very high school) I just see it as a filtering tool if we have something in common or not.  There are plenty of names on this thread alone that are either attractive or not, boring or interesting and it's all subjective.  I find people who judge others on names alone to be pretty shallow.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Self-Diminishing submissive names (6/5/2008 3:56:23 PM)

It's a turnoff for me for the same reason that "footslut" would be a turnoff in a screen name.  To me it means that their kink is the most important part about them and the primary thing they want to show, and/or that they don't really "get" what all of this is and are using that as a way to be the most likely to be allowed into the group or get attention.

Nothing to do with the actual worthless term- I've wallowed in being called that and much "worse" in my time.
