Exactly.  Marvin Zindler had his moments of controversy...his expose on the Chicken Ranch was the source material for the musical and later movie "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas"...but he had zero tolerance for prejudice and bigotry.  Hard to imagine the bedsheet brigade having much chance against him and his camera crew.....

Oh?

News to me.  Been living here more or less since '83, and steadily since '89, and I've not seen any Imperial Wizards or Grand High Poohbear Komodo Dragon Klan Knight whatevers...

Of course, that 'better aim' bit might be influencing things a tad.  Sam Colt was the great equalizer of all men after all.

Celtic, Im not trying to argue with ya... Seriously. But what do you think that Christian book store on red bluff that sells the Turner Diaries is? Or all the crosses in the circle - I forget exactly what ya call that symbol??? Also it goes by many names... Perhaps at the gun range you have encountered some members of the "Texas Ready Reserve" or the "Texas Sons of Patriotism" those are both paramilitary arms of the Klan... Please keep in mind that what I am labeling "Klan" isnt necessarily the Ku Klux Klan, some are the Knights of the White Kamelia etc but its the same shit to me - if someone wears a hood and burn crosses in the woods etc then Im not nitpicking distinctions as to whether or not their Klan or Kamelia ... There is a Klavern in LaPorte that is so open that they had the Junior Klansmen selling peanut brittle as a fund raiser and they had a picnic complete with cross lighting ceremony on Sylvan Beach... For Christ's sake in the 1980's 2500 of them rolled into Kemah and Seabrook!

As for your not being invited. What circles do you run in? Are you a member of any mainstream Masonic organizations? I am and have been recruited several times at those...

i have no more tolerance for la raza, or black seperationist groups than i do for the klan and their ilk...at the source of it all is fear of those different from you.  Focusing on the differences rather than the similiarities shows a sort of voluntary blindness and ignorance.

And that is yet one more reason I knew I was right when I told my parents hell no I do NOT want to be a Rainbow Girl.....All those DeMolay boys were dorks anyway.[8D] Those corrupt Catholic boys on the other side of my family were wayyyyy more fun. All that guilt and repression, good times.

Tulip, beautifully worded, thanks. Truly, people's similarities are so much closer than the differences if that ugly fear   thing can be overcome. I think ( hope ) that in time it will. God I hope so.

By the way right now on MPBN there is a wonderful documentary "Forgiving Dr. Mengele".  Pretty powerful stuff.

popeye1250 -> RE: James Byrd Jr (6/8/2008 7:29:34 PM)

Well I do believe in lynchings!
For politicians, rapists and child molestors. "Hang em High!"
I remember seeing that on the News back in '98 and I was absolutely shocked that something like that still happens in this country!
My great uncle told me that his father (my great grandfather) Pat Mc Donough from Sligo, Ireland and a few other gentlemen who had immigrated from Ireland and lived in the area (Woburn, Mass) were being beaten and harrassed by the KKK in the 1890's.
He said they found out where they were having their "campfires" and got shotguns and ambushed  them. They wounded a bunch of them and then the next day beat up the doctor who treated some of them until he gave them their names.
Then they gave them a piece of real "Clan" and he said, "they beat the living be'jasus out of them one by one!"
They didn't fuck with the Irish after that.

P.S. Ahhhhhh, ...the good old days!

Whackos in many cultures, including Hispanic, have advocated extreme measures, but there are specific names for those groups, like  Mechistas.

La Raza is a broader term for those of Hispanic descent working together to achieve the status of first class citizens, and the link I gave shows that La Raza is a civil rights organization.

Lumping them together is like calling MLK Jr. a Black Panther, and I was hoping you hadn't meant to portray all of 'the people' as equivalent to a violent hate group like the Klan.

Clan vs Klan -- no contest.

when i speak of la raza...it is the idea that the race should be seperated or kept pure that pervades many of these groups... i am familiar with La Raza the organization, and realize it could be mistaken by those reading my post. Lo Siento...

Alumbrado -> RE: James Byrd Jr (6/8/2008 7:41:42 PM)

Then you are speaking of Mechistas, as I said, and deliberately repeating untruths to smear all members of La Raza... that pretty much disqualifies you from lecturing anyone on hate.

ETR: Thanks for clarifying the difference, I was hoping you hadn't hopped on to the 'Klan with a Tan' bandwagon that some posters here keep repeating.

and what exactly qualifies you to disqualify me????  Look...i read your little comment after correcting my post, but i wouldn't deliberately try to smear anyone...i'm not going to play your little game.  Play with yourself...take that any way you choose.

You might want to work on those reading skills.    Once you changed your post to clarify, then you were no longer part of the group I was talking about were you?

Unless you just enjoy playing games.

La Raza = The Klan with a tan.
