I think you are right regarding your posts... I'm happy we cleared that up, because I hoped you didn't think that way. And I think we agree that those who embrace the extreme rhetoric are hurting all people  with that nonsense.

I still have to point these things out, because there are people who will fall for the stuff spread by certain other posters here... that Hispanic is interchangeable with 'illegal', and that anyone whose ancestors aren't listed at Ellis Island should be deported...and that all of La Raza is Mexican gangs and Aztlan separatists.

As I mentioned, for some it is a matter of survival... there is nothing to say that the next person dragged behind a truck won't be 'one of us'.

Alumbro, I dont know if you were referring to me above... (For some reason as a conservative Im branded a racist so I might be a bit sensitive to it and am as such responding to a comment not directed at me.) However, for the record I LOVE HISPANICS, even the illegal ones. (who are clearly not all of the Hispanic population) The Hispanic work ethic and sense of family is to be applauded,  and should serve as a role model to the "American Poor" who consider work beneath them. Whenever possible I will hire hispanics either as day workers, or as if qualified and documented as legitimate help in various business ventures, or if undocumented to perform services around my home. Hell, I even have a very nice undocumented Honduran woman as a live in care taker / helper for my elderly mother which is in my opinion a vastly superior alternative to assistied living eldercare and which provides the Hispanic woman with a clean safe home, paid utilities, and a stipend.  I am absolutely not a hispanic hater, and in fact appluad them and will extend any opportunity I can to them entirely on their merit and work ethic...

Why because I DON'T hate hispanics and will afford them an opportunity with or without papers? That makes me a bad guy? Let me tell ya something - a lot of people will bitch about the illegal aliens but you know what my house is SPOTLESS. My clothes are clean. Every errand I assign is done. AND if I leave $300 laying on the table, as I accidentally did last week, there will be $300 laying there when I get back. (I see where she picked it up, cleaned under it, and put it back!)

People can say what they want about "illegals" and "mexicans" (many of whom arent - people forget about Honduras, Salvador, etc) and all the obnoxious names they call them - but I have never had an undocumented hispanic attempt to get so much as a dollar from me without earning it. They come here, and they perform a service and they perform it well at a fair price.

Whether it is charging me $100 a day to paint, or $3.50 for a delicious torta and a buck for an ice cold medio litro bottle of the Mexican Coke, or cleaning my house for $25 a visit, or picking up my dogshit for $5 a week the undocumented Hispanics have never come to me for a hand out or a sense of entitlement. They work, and they work hard, and I will gladly take an equal number of undocumented hispanics for the same number of lazy Katrina refugees or residents of my trailers. (who I might add were white.)

Maybe thats what we should do, broker a deal with Mexico... Send us 1000 more Mexicans and well send you 1000 Katrina parasites and white trash.  Even exchange.

The question WHY has been asked of me ,while the shovel keeps digging the whole deeper...why I bother is a better question,why I don't just leave it to the almighty as a wiser man than me suggested...and now for the third time tonight I will rinse the blood out of my mouth(I keep biting my own tongue In an effort to stifle responses)

Hice un poco un lío en el cuarto de baño, apesadumbrado sobre ése que era una noche áspera. ¿También puede usted poner el hojas negras del satén en la cama? Grazias

I kind of can't mistake her for Swedish ya know??? However, my view of a racist is someone who hates someone simply on the basis of who or what they are and/or will deny them opportunity based on that.

For example, my ex-girlfriend always said "Keeev, baybeee if ya'll keep hiring them to do shit for ya or buyin their crap they aint never goin' home" To me THAT is a racist. Not me.

Pink, we've been friends for a while now and I know a whole lot of people cut their friends slack on the things they say or write. I'm not one of them. Friend, family member or foe, I do hold people reasonable for the things that come out of their mouths and keyboards. I find this post to be offensive to the OP and the somber nature of this thread in general and it troubles me that you found it necessary to banter and highjack about font color of all things. I invite you to read post #81 of this thread and see if you believe that you've just exhibited offensive behavor and hyprocisy towards Level's OP given what you wrote there. If so, perhaps you'll consider extending him an apology. Maybe you'll think me too harsh or wonder why I didn't respond to the prior posts, but those at least were written with an eye projecting on possible responses to the OP's, unlike your own.

Level, I'm going to extend my own apology to you for giving this post any sort of acknowledgment at all. I am ruled by doing the right thing as often as I am able and if I get Mod spanked for it, so be it. I'll sit in jail for as long as the PTB deem reasonable.

Regarding the actual OP: Level, I appreciate your posting of the link. When we forget the past or when we fail to learn from it, we will suffer the hell of continuing to repeat it. As a nation, we still have a lot of growing up to do. It's up to each of us as individuals to set an example to those who come after us. I don't believe we, as a nation will be able to rise to any level of greatness, a potential which I firmly believe is within us, until we do.

       Not just hate, DA, but assigning all sorts of characteristics to people based on their ethnicity is rascism as well.  "Those Hispanics sure are hard-working, the Asians are such good students, if not for whisky, the rish would rule the world."  Culture is not the same as race.

       Great people come in all colors.  So do trash.
