You are fucking joking? Ireland isn't part of Europe? Well, fuck me sideways with a broomstick... The Irish Republic isn't part of the EU? No way... the lying bastids.

No, you said, "from the European continent."

Oh! You went back and edited that I see![:D]

kittinSol -> RE: James Byrd Jr (6/9/2008 6:02:55 PM)

Okay, you geography expert. Which continent does the island of Ireland belong to [:(]?

Kittin, it's not "on the European continent" though, ...is it?[:D]

kittinSol -> RE: James Byrd Jr (6/9/2008 6:10:03 PM)

Oh my god... you just tricked yourself where no trick was intented [:D]!!! Ireland, part of Great Britain...

[sm=biggrin.gif]

Seriously, Ireland was always part of the Euro continent, it never shifted that far away from it, and it has benefited immensely from EU subsidies. That popeye seems to ignore this is frightening, but not altogether all that surprising.

Does he even know that Ireland is split between two territories?

No matter how many races we have, we seem to see more differences than there really are.

It is a sure bet that the men dragging Mr Byrd behind that pickup truck didn't think they were doing it to a member of their own race.

Just a rant...

You said it, mate.

So many words for a rant about nothing, too.

Five races. Okey-doke. [8D]

Did they see  him as human, I wonder? Are they sorry? Do they care?

I know this one Miss, is it Asia ?

Actually i could be picky and say that mainland Europe is known here as continental Europe, but The European Continent includes all the islands. Incidentally some schools are now teaching there are seven continents where i was taught there were five.

No, No, and No. I saw one of them in an interview on I think it was A&E (whoever has that "American Justice" show.) The guy they interviewed, who is on death row is pretty proud of what he did and was making jokes about how "he lost his head" (the victims head was found over a mile from his torso, and remains were found in 75 places). He was specifically asked if he had any regrets and the only one he expressed was that he only got to kill the one victim.... Interesting piece of psychology at work there... But no, at least the one they interviewed doesnt care...

No they do not/did not.

They definitely present a compelling case for "an eye for an eye"--their mode of execution should be being dragged to death across a dirt and gravel road.  Why should there be mercy where there is no remorse?

hizgeorgiapeach -> RE: James Byrd Jr (6/10/2008 8:18:36 AM)

quick reply here - one which no doubt a whole bunch of people are gonna hiss and boo...

In going on and on about such things... whether it be the lynching of James Byrd, or the attack on the WTC, or even the one that actually hit close to home for me - the bombing of the Murrah Building here in OKC ... you give the people who committed such acts something that they would never have gotten otherwise.  A form of Immortality.

Learning our history so that we do not repeat the mistakes of the past is one thing.  Keeping such recent past constantly in the public eye, where wounds do not have a chance to heal before the scab gets picked at again are another.
