quote:

(The Politico) Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) introduced 35 articles of impeachment against President Bush on Monday night, reading the resolution into the Congressional Record.

Kucinich, who unsuccessfully sought the Democratic presidential nomination this year, unveiled a litany of alleged illegal and improper acts by Bush, including war crimes.

Kucinich has introduced a similar impeachment resolution against Vice President Cheney. That resolution was referred to the House Judiciary Committee, which has taken no action on the measure. Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and other top House Democratic leaders have stated that there will be no consideration of impeachment proceedings against Bush, calling the idea "off the table."

Kucinich and other liberal Democrats, including Rep. Robert Wexler (D-Fla.), have sought the removal of the current administration, arguing that Bush and Cheney have lied to Congress and the American public about the reasons for invading Iraq in 2003 and abused their offices in order to conduct the "War on Terror" following the 9/11 attacks.

Do the Democrats have no more pressing business than to pander to the media?

snappykappy -> RE: Kucinich offers impeachment papers (6/10/2008 5:04:53 PM)

but no matter what were not the senators and representatives elected to serve the people they represent

i know that is far fetched but by them doing what they want and not what their constiuents the people want isn't that totally against the constitution and why they were so elected to do

Alumbrado -> RE: Kucinich offers impeachment papers (6/10/2008 5:40:05 PM)

This does raise an interesting question...
The members of Congress who voted for the war can pretend they were duped all they want, but in reality the leadership had access to the highest level of intelligence reports (just as they had all been circulated the reports warning of people training to fly planes into skyscraper pre 9/11).

So why wouldn't they face at least conspiracy charges?

'Ve vere chust followink orderz'

and

'I know nuuuuthinnnk'

didn't work at Nuremburg.

Really? The Clinton witchhunt led by Ken Starr wasn't an embarrassment? A blowob impeachment wasn't embarrasing? But to allow a moron to run roughshod over the country, excuse me, the world and lead us into an illegal fucking occupation  at a cost of how many lives and how much money, and NOT to have already impeached him,, that is the true embarrassment.

Might have made sense 2 years ago ...at this point it would seem to be a non-starter...I like the chances of the American public's own little impeachment process it's call an election(please I don't need any reminders Mr Bush is already ineligible for a third term...John McCain would be the next best thing to a 3rd term)

Aynne -> RE: Kucinich offers impeachment papers (6/10/2008 6:33:11 PM)

Alumbrado -> RE: Kucinich offers impeachment papers (6/10/2008 6:48:19 PM)

So why is it again that Hillary shouldn't be sitting in the cell next to Bush for authorizing an illegal war?

you are joking right? Are you implying that all of the other members that voted on the same resolution based on the lies Bush told them are equally to blame for the mastermind behind the war?  They should all be imprisoned for voting based on inaccuracies concocted by shrub to occupy Iraq? Hmm, interesting but no.

Aynne -> RE: Kucinich offers impeachment papers (6/10/2008 6:57:38 PM)

Apparently you've forgotten what job Hillary held before voting to authorize the war...

Or are you now saying she didn't bother her pretty little head with all that 'men stuff' like CIA level intelligence reports on student pilots and skyscrapers,.or the absence of WMDs in Iraq?

Alumbrado may imply it.  I will state it plainly.

The intelligence Bush used was available to Congress.  Members of Congress had not only the opportunity but also the duty to perform their own due diligence on these matters, to scrutinize Bush's conclusions with an independent eye.

If they did in fact do so, and still voted for the resolution, it is hypocritical to assert at this latter date that Bush lied, deceived, and misled them.  In such a case, Bush cannot be deserving of impeachment.

If they did not do so, then all such members of Congress are guilty of gross negligence and dereliction of duty, and are equally culpable for all lives lost unnecessarily in Iraq.  If Bush merits impeachment, every member of Congress authorizing the resolution merits the same.

Iraq was an abysmal mistake, and it was the mistake of the entire US government.  President and Congress have equally bloody paws on this one.

Aynne -> RE: Kucinich offers impeachment papers (6/10/2008 7:21:34 PM)

I would not put the country through an other impeachment debacle cl, that is a GOP trick. Just pray things don't get worse until November.

By the way, Scotty McLellan, liar or not? He seems quite adamanat that Bush and co. deliberately mislead the public re: the entire Iraq fiasco. Did you like him when he was part of the admin, and now he is a liar? Just curious..

Alumbrado, I am not ignoring you, I was all busy baking cookies and things, my pretty little head can't comprehend your big masculine questions..[8|] I have to go iron a shirt now.

Alumbrado -> RE: Kucinich offers impeachment papers (6/10/2008 7:23:25 PM)

That explains a lot...and pretty much sells out anyone who had a rational reason for supporting her.

He's a liar.   A real crisis of conscience does not come with a hefty advance on royalties.

He was the Press Secretary -- the official mouthpiece of the administration.  I listened to him on that basis.  "like" and "dislike" didn't enter into the equation.

Speaking of McClellan...... he's agreed to testify before a House committee next week:

Is sarcasm lost on you? Or do you take it only when it behooves you?

Level, thanks for the link. Should prove to be interesting .
