I wouldn't eat sushi below the mason dixon line either..ewwww.  But when you can see the icy waters of the atlantic from your window? Nothing better.

Ever heard of the Chesapeake Bay?  Or the Gulf of Mexico? You should be so lucky as to get your fish from waters devoid of sculpin poop.

Soto in Atlanta has a good reputation, and  2 Stick in Oxford has always been a treat.

i freely admit i am no 'foodie'.  i dun cook and never will.  A ham sandwich is fine with me.  If i want s'thing fancy to eat, i order it off a menu.

Even so, some foods should simply not exist.  Top of my list of really, really gross food is grits.  My time down south was marred by my exposure to grits, even in conversation.

They just make my skin crawl.

Does any food have this kind of effect on Y/you?

pinksugarsub

Grits?  You would pay extra for it if the menu said 'polenta'

Even in the South many places can't do grits properly...as Snuffy Smith once complained, "The soup is gritty, and the grits is soupy..."

My food hard limits are things pickled... if it isn't a Kosher dill, I don't want it.
I've tried all sorts, from relish to chow-chow to chutney, to pickallilly, to borscht...never have develope a taste for the sickly sweet/sour.

Other than that, bring on the gator tail, the curried goat, the menudo, the squid, the beef tongue slices, the abalone, the gizzards, the smoked eel, the liver pate', the okra, the oysters, the kimchi, the ginger chickens feet, you name it.

Pinky..
I would have agreed with the grits, until I found out it was a corn product, then I just added butter and salt to improve the taste.

I am a very picky eater to start with, but:
My number one "I ain't eatin THAT!" food product?

Offal
(this includes Haggis )

Number two:
Mushrooms
Cooked or raw..
Why?
Uhmm...... 'cause i dun wanna eat anything that is related to what could grow on my foot...(fungus...eeeeeewwwwwwwwww!)

quit following me around. I have eaten seafood from the chesepeake bay many many times, crab being one of my favorite. Has some fantastic abalone in Cozumel and amazing fish in Belize as well, yes, sashimi style. However, this is a preference shared by many, I prefer my sushi and sashimi straight from the icy waters. I don't care for oysters from warmer climes either, that lack that snap, that fresh briny flavor that I have truly grown accustomed to as have most new englanders. I want a giant ice cold salty Pemaquid or Damariscotta Bay Oyster, not some smallish warmer water one. Not the same at all. Just a preference.  And if your uni isn't from here, I would never touch it.

Mmmmmm, a friend made me some fried okra once. Tasty stuff..... And the beef tongue is called lengua in Spanish. VERY tasty indeed! (Cabesa is good as well though not as moist as lengua...) When I get sick, I crave menudo or won ton soup, forget the chicken noodle soup for me....

Ok, I have to agree, even though I have Scots ancestry.  Same goes for the other half of my ancestry.. no Lutefisk either.

the horrid foods i don't like - chitterlings (the smell while cooking them is horrible), okra, and tofu.

Can something with no smell or taste even be considered food?

If it ain't lip-smackin' yummy, it's not food!
