Status: offline 		I avoid TV like the plague but I work on them so there is some exposure.

If ETs were picking up our TV signals, what would they think ?

That we are depressed, incontinent diabetics. That our main function in life is to get an automobile, get into a wreck, sue somebody and be stupid enough to take an annuity for a settlement. But you can get the cash now, for a fee. And that's just from the commercials.

Then there's the news, and not even getting to the content, the co-anchor nodding up and down as the other speaks. Why do they even bother ? That kind of forced body language is so obvious that it surely only works on people who would just believe them anyway. And then the content. Crime everywhere, even in the government.

Then the soap operas. One would hope they know that those are fiction, but wouldn't that fiction be reflective of those who create and consume it ? So everybody is lying and conniving and scamming one another.

Thus we have the court shows. I need not say more on that subject.

Technologically though, all these waves projecting from the Earth form a virtual sphere of garbled, very hard to decode information, but an advanced technology could do it. They could do a flyby and adjusting for the Doppler effect, pickup all of our signals ever since radio was invented in a very short time. Of course the most recent would be closest to the Earth. If they wanted that they could probably get close enough to see a few things for themselves.

I would keep right on going. In fact my Dad says that we may well be defectives of another race left here to burn out our aggressive tendencies. I wonder if he realizes that would mean that this planet is akin to a prison, or a mental ward.

He is not the only one either.

Status: offline 		I was under the impression that they somehow had a weakness and just needed us for our eggs.  They don't care about us... they just want what we can provide from our bodies.  Wow... could they really want to know what goes on in our minds?  Or even care what happens in our lives?  Whoa... I may have to rethink those lil green men...

its to hide the signal from the aliens.  see...they can look through your analog tv and find your dirty socks and then come steal them when they run out of fuel.

Status: offline 		One of the Twilight Zone episodes (do you remember those?) was about an exchange of mutated people. The earth boy was sent to another world and that world would send a mutant from their world to earth. In the end, the one being sent to earth looked just like an earth person and the earth boy looked just like others on the world he was being sent to. happy all around. so the idea of us being outcasts from another planet sounds right to me.

Status: offline 		They would pick up TV shows where people were talking about how our culture would look to an alien people who knew us from our TV shows, so they would know that we have mass media advertising, artistic expression, folklore, and all the rest. They would decipher our language, infer our brain structure, devise a signal of their own to send back to us that would secretly replace our own broadcasts, and we would never know it, not even when one of them exposed the plot in a random posting at an unlikely website forum.

Status: offline 		Maybe we've already been invaded?  Perhaps the ET's are the ones who came up with our programming?

Keep us dumb...we won't fight back when they want to take over out little world.

In reality there is some valuable programming on television.  It's just garbled.  There are people who want to distance themselves from reality...too many.  So that is what our programming is made up of.

i always thought the aliens took 1/2 of clean sock pairs from the drier to keep you looking down as the spaceships went overhead.  But what do i know?  The alien mind is inscrutable.

The Universe is Infinite, Infinite Universe Infinite Planets.

We know that some planets do not contain Life meaining that there are only a Finite Amount of planets that can be populated

When you divide a Finite number by an Infinite one you get 0

Therefore the Population of the Universe is 0

I mean hello - they have mastered warp drive  but they seek knowledge and insight in Bubba's asshole? Why not land on the lawn of the Johnson Space Center hike on over to Building 110 and say "Howdy Ya'll Take Me To Yer Leader!"   Perhaps they have seen an old broadcast screening of Deliverance?
