Must agree with a lot here, Jean Luc Picard and Mall Reynalds.... and although in work-life Zoe wasnt in charge at all, in that marriage she was so very the top.

And Angel when he's soul-less or just mad broody murdering lawyers and whatnot.

And Grissom. And Jack Bristow off of Alias, very very calculated and in charge.

I'm so surprised not one person mentioned anyone from "The Marketplace" series.
I personally like the way Anderson and Parker think so much alike as well as how they always have the slaves best intrest at heart.

Hello all,
The wonderful thing about fiction is that the charachters are usually based on real life people... ask any writer.  Oh my goodness are they wonderful.  I love seeing how people come to life on screen or in books - a little of this from one person, a little of that from another, a whole bunch of that person...

Jamie Fraser from the Diana Gabaldon Outlander Series
Samuel L Jackson in SWAT
and of course Olivier Martinex in the same movie (swoooooon)
Han Solo and didn't he turn into that fabulous Indiana Jones too?
Vito Corlione
Johnny Depp in Chocolat
The sister who runs off with banditos in Like Water for Chocolate
Cat Woman, Michele Pfeiffer
Glenn Close and John Malkovich in Dangerous Liaisons
Calamity Jane

What a nice thread!
I have a lot, but I will share a few off the top of my head.

Brad Pitt as Lestat, in "Interview with a Vampire"

Russell Crowe in "Gladiator"

Uma Thurman in "Kill Bill 1 and 2"---fucking awesome!

Samuel Jackson in "Pulp Fiction"

**I didn't see anything mentioned about role model in the OP"?

hell I could go on all night here.

I'm not suggesting we emulate any of the characters listed here, but the question was who was your favorite fictional character. There is certain parts I admire in a lot of the corrupted alpha types.

Ben Wade was a charmer, an incredibly charismatic individual who used that ability to gain the trust and loyalty of people and commanded the deep respect of his gang.

The OP listed Daniel Plainview from There WIll Be Blood. This was another "bad" character who I thought was a really good response to favorite fictional dominants.
The man was a monster corrupted by greed and hatred who consumed everything in his conquest for money, but even as such, the sheer drive, cunning and smarts he put forth into getting what he wanted and accomplishing what he did was none the less impressive.

Good one MadRabbit.

However what was the name of the Blonde Gun Man. And if you know his Real name as well as the Character name I would appreciate it. He was in the Movie Alpha Dog, and I liked his character but in 3:10 to Yuma he was VERY believable as a Sadistic Bastard even if he wasn't believable as a Gun Man.

Steel

Can't think of his name, but as a favorite dominant character, I can't really list him.

He might have herded the gang along while Ben was away, but he was still pretty much submissive to Wade. Wade was his idol and role model. He looked at the man as if he was his God.

As far as favorite sadistic character, the best I can think of that's come out in the last couple of years would be Mr. Brooks and his alter ego from the movie Mr. Brooks.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Yeah I said it, why?

Kenobi: "You don't want to wear those clothes"

Difficult sub: "I don't want to wear these clothes"

Kenobi: "You need to make better use of your mouth"

Difficult sub: "I need to make better use of my mouth"

Kenobi: ::Unzips pants::

Kenobi: "Proceed"

I find some mild sadistic tendencies in Bond (the character from Fleming's novels, not the movies), but that's not enough to make him a dominant in my book.

A somewhat more Dom/me-esque character is George Smiley from John le Carre's novels. It might not be obvious at first glance, but pay particular attention to how he both cares for and uses his subordinates, and also how his agents and juniors look up to him -- he exhibits pure dom tendencies.

One could also say similar things about Simon Templar in Charteris' Saint stories. Notice both women's reactions to him, as well as those of his "gang" in the earlier books in the series.

Many old English boarding school stories featured dom characters. In particular, Thomas Hughes' classic, Tom Brown's Schooldays, can, with the properly skewed perspective, be viewed as the training of a young dom.

A couple of my friends also view Austen's Darcy as a dom. I tend to disagree, largely because he shows himself not to be in control of himself on occasion. Instead, I find a few (by no means all) of the male protagonists in Heyer's regency romances to exhibit more controlled Dom/me-esque tendencies.

Hank Rearden from Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged

and

Admiral Kane from Battlestar Galactica (until they killed her off)

There was a short story by Anna McCaffrey about a girl from Earth that was kidnapped, along with others, who escaped, rescued one of the aliens (male of course), and he went dommy and took over....in a good way of course. He also apparently was hung like the proverbial horse.

I loved the story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sean Connery's character, Mark Rutland, in Alfred Hitchcock's thriller 'Marnie'.

Marnie: "You don't love me. I'm just some kind of wild animal you've trapped!"

One of the very best 'D/s' movies i've ever seen..absolutely perfect in every respect.  All is implied; nothing is ever explicit.

role model?? hmm. LadyLisa from Exit to Eden. (Yes I liked the movie, and adored Dana Delaney in it, but......well if they called it something else and was totally different from the book would of liked it alot more. hope that makes sense.)

I liked LadyHeather too and hate the way they trashed her charecter.

Who was Stu Redman played by? been so long since I've seen it, that I barely remember it.

I got The Fountainhead, I really should read it.

Gary Sinese played Stu Redmond in the movie

Touto (Der Tod) from the musical Elisabeth. It was mostly the way he treated Rudolph that got to me, but also quite a few times what he was doing to Elisabeth sent the most wonderful shivers down my spine.

Great way to show a powerful man AND a powerful woman with a man who still is the only one wearing pants.

Forgot one, in the spirit of Elmer Fudd;  Bobkin! A fictional character of epic proportions who never fails to amuse. The self proclaimed originator of "submission is a gift" and other mythical lifestyle anachronisms. I truly miss him (her?).
