Honestly slashspeak makes me nuts NUTS I tell you but the third person stuff makes me truly insane.  I have used the editorial "we" as appropriate, but the rest of us have frikken names and brains, and if we did not then we would not be posting here.

I *tolerate* it from beth, because I hold her in very high regard, and I wouldn't want to miss her posts.  Other folks definitely get the scan treatment.

I do randomly capitalize my pronouns, but I randomly capitalize anyway, when I am  in an18th century mood!

Definitely slashy/speak and need to add one for colored font and size.

Yet you have a colored, sized and italicized sig message. Good call.

I use a colored font in linear forums (like this one) so that I can quickly scan the threads to see and respond to people who have quoted an earlier post of mine. I try to pick the least obnoxious color available.

It's a good, crisp, blue.

My co-worker's son has named his "Johnny" [8|]

Edited to add: he has a ringworm. Never mind....

MissMagnolia -> RE: Which do you find more annoying to read? (6/15/2008 6:12:12 PM)

3
1
2

But there should have been an all of the above option.

BitaTruble -> RE: Which do you find more annoying to read? (6/15/2008 6:37:48 PM)

It seems that when third person is used correctly, it would not be noticed, therefore, it shouldn't be annoying.

Continually using a slash between the same letters to differentiate orientations could be construed as insulting to those members of the population who are not deemed worthy of correct capitalization. Aside from such an inference, it is much more difficult to read but, generally, is not as hard to comprehend as poorly executed third person communication.

For many content and comprehension trumps style.

Then there are those posts which have neither content nor style, but that is probably fodder for another thread.

This post brought to you in third person speech. ::grins::

This J/just occurred to me: Do S/witches who are into typographical status symbols refer to themselves as M/me?

LOL! My best typo in ages. I still have the edit option, but I can't bring myself to correct it.

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Which do you find more annoying to read? (6/15/2008 8:15:54 PM)

That slashy shit makes me want to reach through the monitor and strangle people

third-person doesnt bother me, and in person, it can sound absolutely beautiful (as can saying "One would like to point out that all spoken words can be beautiful etc)

capitization doesnt bother me, as long as its only the first letter, or every letter ThIs AnNoYs ThE hElL OuT oF mE

It doesn't drive me to strangulation but (on top of being very hard to read) for some reason it gives me this impression that the person is indecisive. I know there is no logical connection there but I still get that impression when I see slash speak.

Sometimes it can. Mr. Hobson could speak in that manner with considerable flair - "One must usually go to a bowling alley to meet a woman of your stature." That is a bit different from substituting 'this slave/submissive/girl/boy" for I and me.

It looks pompous to me. Could be because I used to hang out in a channel on IRC where a pompous dom ass hung out who always capped his personal pronouns. Even capped the pronouns of his dog.

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Which do you find more annoying to read? (6/15/2008 9:19:00 PM)

To clarify, it one is useing teh slashy speak to talk about multiple definate people, that is different, but if they are using it to adress any poor sod that happens to wander past, it gets real annoying, real fast

(i.e. How are y/You two doing today? vs Hey e/Everyone!)

SirsPetAdrina -> RE: Which do you find more annoying to read? (6/15/2008 9:21:31 PM)

im like asher but none of it really bothers me but if i really had to pick one just dont use the damn slash when using the caps i do mine like Wwe instead of W/we cuz its less of an annoyance
