Is slash speak like saying: I'm going for a slash?

Edited to leave a little mystery

Most definitely slash speak. Makes me almost cross-eyed trying to read it.

really it is only #1 but i will admit i did at one time. fuck, i annoyed myself...even.  it was short lived. after my first in the flesh event, i figured i'll save the R/respect thing for when i am face to face. it drives me absolutely batty now trying to read slashy speak especially in big pink font.

#2...i have done 3rd person  and i liked the headspace it put me in. it kept me focused. if speaking in 3rd person was required by trhe Master i was serving...i would hav no problem with it.. speaking in 3rd person, it depends beth speaks in 3rd person, and i respect and admire her relationship with MrMerc and her chosen place as his slave. as far as others, well ummm if it makes their cunt wet to talk in 3rd person, who am i to put a damper on that.

#3...hey if  it gets them hard typing My...Me...Mine...well, i would never want to be the one to make a Dominant lose his erection.

it is all good in my world except....yea that big pink fonted one.

may we all find our bliss communicating in cyberspace.

No choice for font colors other than black?

There was a slave on an email group i used to belong to who i had a lot of respect for on an intellectual level- whenever she would post, it was almost always something of value. However, she used both slash-type AND third-person speak... GAWD it was a pain in the ass to read. i started putting together a website "translator" to turn it into English, but i got bored with that and just started deleting her messages instead.

Third person speech drives me batsh*t.

    'This girl saw a dog......'

One thing is for sure -- i'm waaaay too dim to keep that up for any length of time; so i guess i'd flunk Gor 101.

Just out of curiosity: A/anyone ever heard third person speech in a real life convo?  Or is it just used in written communication?  (i'm nosey like that.)

But i know, i have to respect the choices made by O/others.

(In case Y/you missed it, that was an example of slashy speech, lol.)

I can understand any of them when talking one-on-one with someone where it is protocol or whatever - hey, whatever floats your boat, but I believe in straightforward communication when in public.  I am most often annoyed at slash-speak and generally will avoid reading the posts.  I know a few Doms on here like to cap their pronouns, which makes me shrug and say 'whatever' but it doesn't annoy me.  Third person, if it's done well, can be a decent form of communication, however, unlike some prolific posters on here, it is rarely done well, and when it's not done well, I have to skip over it.

It's the third person narrative which I have a tough time trying to deal with. Guess it just goes against all I learned in English class in school! Kudos to the people who are comfortable using it though myself it's something I couldn't do.

yes i have. i found it beautiful actually. i also have seen a slave respond entirely to hand signals and not say one word all evening. her actions were gracefully beautiful.

Yet you have a colored, sized and italicized sig message. Good call.

I use a colored font in linear forums (like this one) so that I can quickly scan the threads to see and respond to people who have quoted an earlier post of mine. I try to pick the least obnoxious color available.

    <F/fast R/reply>

D/dC/c would also have selected All of the Above, if available.

Since it's not, this boi will consider E/each linguistic affront in turn.

S/slash speak is definitely the O/one D/dC/c finds most irksome. In addition to seeming poseurish, it's visually T/trying in a way that the others aren't. Indeed, T/his practice takes such a toll on this boi's brain that he's T/taken to slashing random words just to give his posts that WTF feeling that I/is such an important part of the Collarme experience.

Doms' capitalizing their own P/pronouns makes D/d/C/c roll his eyes. The King James Bible and the Book of Common Prayer don't even capitalize pronounds used F/for God, so doing so for mere mortals seems a tad over the top.

D/dC/c doesn't particularly M/mind third-person speak, perhaps because dear Miss Manners uses it.
