My real first name has a capital C. [;)]

KCMOLucky -> RE: Have You Lied on Your Profile? Why? (11/2/2005 12:12:23 PM)

lol, caitlyn

To answer the OPs question, nope, if anything, I'm too truthful, and too blunt. I let people know that I'm married, that I'm intolerant of jealousy, that I can be a bitch... Believe me, it's all true. I'm bad. I can be good, but I'm bad, and I don't put up with shit...lol.

In a business sense, I've been told to remove my graduate degree from my resume, as I may appear to be overqualified with too much education.

I am really interested - overqualified for what?

Phoenxx -> RE: Have You Lied on Your Profile? Why? (11/2/2005 12:49:13 PM)

Lying in your profile pretty much guarantees anyone you meet is going to walk or run away. I’m me. Take it or leave it.
Plus it’s like frowning. It takes 40 (I think it was 40) muscles to frown and 6 to smile. And 15 to reach out and bytch slap someone…
You do have to give someone who is a good liar credit though. They have a fair bit of creativity LoL

The commonest fudge is the men over 50 lying about their age. Then showing a picture that utterly goes against that stated age
Know what you mean, it's really disturbing/annoying to have grown adults lying, to me it's such a spineless move.
...And no, I've not lied on my profile, as there is no reason to be anything but my bad and flawed self. M

mnottertail -> RE: Have You Lied on Your Profile? Why? (11/2/2005 1:52:37 PM)

Ja, I really live in rural Richville, not Ottertail. But I ain't Rich. And I am now 51 but I am too lazy to try to change it. I was 50 when I upped.

BlkTallFullfig -> RE: Have You Lied on Your Profile? Why? (11/2/2005 1:57:31 PM)

At least you turned only 51, I've met men who've aged 2-4year since meeting (within 3months), must be dog years, lol. M

Perhaps put that disclaimer in your profile? When I had a "seeking" profile, I used to put the disclaimer: "When you take a look my ALT Fetish Checklist, you will get an idea of what I like, not what I expect." I think that took care of a lot of misunderstandings.

Also, ALT might be interested in your perception of their checklist.

Thank you for the advice. It probably -is- time to update that profile again.

I tried something similar for a while ("The selected activities are ones I would engage in, not necesarially ones I have tried or ones I expect") but it had about as much effect as the first sentence of my profile there. ("I am very happily partner and we are currently looking for people to play with -both- of us")

I don't use alt a whole lot 'cuase I'm unwilling to pay, but I think I shall e-mail them, if only to ease my conscience.

Thank you! :)

Well here is an interesting thing... you put a disclaimer in your profile, someone doesn't read it, then gets the wrong impression and then it's your fault? That logic has more holes then Emmentaler! ;-)

Lies ! Bad bad bad !
My turn to confess.
I am really French, but it's not the whole truth... Ich bin ein Amerikaner.

Oberonrex -> RE: Have You Lied on Your Profile? Why? (11/2/2005 2:26:03 PM)

My profile here is pretty accurate, and I think the one I have on ALT is as well, probably need to check it. The only possible quibbles from outside are that I do not live in the city limits of the town listed, but it is the closest city; and I really would prefer to have about 500-1000 more scenes with fireplay and exams before I consider myself a true expert in each. The only profile I have anywhere that is not accurate is one at AFF as the age is messed up because of a screw up. Need to fix it one day, but just haven't bothered, but think it beats when I was listed as being about 100...

Nope, accurate here because I don't want to mislead anyone, and don't want to be mislead either. Lying to others is bad enough, but as a someone doing unto others lying to yourself gets people hurt.

That depends. Did you send him a pic of yourself 30, 40 or 50 lbs heavier than you are now knowing that it wasn't representative of how you looked at the time?

Nope, I didn't send him a pic at all. Nor did I tell him how much I actually weighed. I just wanted to be sure he understood that 1) I am middle-aged; and 2) I'm a LARGE woman. Guess his imagination got the better of him. [:D]

curvyslavegirl -> RE: Have You Lied on Your Profile? Why? (11/2/2005 10:47:25 PM)

i never lie on my profiles. Actually i think i'm TOO honest lol

When people check something as an interest I take it as just that, something they're interested in it doesn't necessarily mean that they are proficient in it, just that they are interested.

ROFTL! Nope, nope, given the state of the house right now, definitely Lord of Chaos though I have not given up my dreams of Amber...

FTopinMichigan -> RE: Have You Lied on Your Profile? Why? (11/3/2005 6:06:55 AM)

Someone I know, apparently didn't describe themselves fully to the person they were corresponding with online. They proceeded to the point of meeting in person, with one flying to meet the other. Meeting at the airport, for the very first time, he saw her, and said something quite rude, and then immediately turned around and walked away.

While I feel for her being treated so poorly, I couldn't help but think she brought it upon herself, by not being open enough in the first place. It is also on the other, in that he should've at least asked.

Her reaction now...is to use someone else's photo, in her profile.

I guess some people never learn.

"overqualified with too much education"....meaning overeducated for positions that don't require additional formal education beyond an undergrad. Most employers will forgo pursuing applicants with resumes that tend to imply they'll be required to pay a higher salary, whether it's someone with tons of work experience or muti degrees. (No need to hire a PhD to do the job all the time, right? [;)]) Anything more than what they're looking for...is usually going to cost them too much, in their thinking. Not unlike finding a Dom or sub with more than you want....it's gonna take a whole lotta work to keep them happy, if they are more complicated. [:D]

Beatmehrdr -> RE: Have You Lied on Your Profile? Why? (11/3/2005 7:02:46 AM)

Well, there's puffery, then there is lying. There is nothing wrong with puffery. Everyone does it, and it is a part of salesmanship, advertising, whatever. How many resumes have you read where the it appeared as if the company would have fallen apart at the seams had the resume writer not been there? "I am the bestest, truest, most loyal sub you will ever meet" is puffery. "I know how to change the brakes on a '96 Buick" is lying.

Aileen68 -> RE: Have You Lied on Your Profile? Why? (11/3/2005 7:22:50 AM)

Mine is very honest. Hell, if I was to lie then I'd add about ten inches to my height and drop a few pounds. My words express me as do my pictures.

Oops...forgot to mention...Aileen isn't my name, but rather my alter ego. My inner wild child.
