Midnght... I was refering to my boys as favoite toys (most of the regulars know thats how I often refer to them). Not an actual implement. I would NEVER strike one of my boys hard enough with an sintrument to do more than bruise. I am not stupid. I am a martial artist I am very well trained in how hard to strike with and without weapons. But I would never break my toys (Fox and Angel) wth rough play that could in any way, shape or form leave lasting issues after the fact.

Midnght, you're getting LOTS of responses telling you that you're venturing into dangerous territory.  But you're not listening.  Are you hoping to get someone to tell you to go ahead and just have fun?

It won't be me.

A woman has breasts, a vagina, a bottom, and all sorts of other lovely spots to play with.  I'm gonna stick with them and play safe.

Hahaha no i'm not looking for that. Heck I knwo the answers. but I figured i'd here what others have to say.
Whcih boils down to some won't do it for one reason or another and others aren;t worried because they don't strike hard enough to do damage.

GreedyTop -> RE: The Kidneys (6/16/2008 6:57:14 PM)

it's that 'not striking hard enough to do damage'that worries me.. like I said initially.. just because it hasn't done damage SO far, doesn't mean the next time won't be when the kidneys say ENOUGH

*pondering the various positions in which I have had sex*

hmm...

mind giving me an example of a position in which someone would be squeezing my waist (other than an arm across my stomach to keep me upright?..oh wait..even that is really across my lower ribcage..)

Well they are just under that lower rib with some exposed. Still it could happen but most likely the hands end up at the top of the hips which we know. . Sure makes ya worry more about corsets though and what damage they do in corset training forget all about any type of beatings.

Lovearts -> RE: The Kidneys (6/16/2008 6:58:56 PM)

so the lesson here is to beat your subs nice and hard...just not on the kidneys...unless its really light...

Ah ever so sorry, had me worried a little there. Considering my slaves and subs as toys is not in my mindset.

You clearly don't 'know the answers'...unless you have xray vision, you have no clue as to whether or not you are causing kidney damage, because as pointed it, it isn't a direct function of how hard you hit or even where.

Looks like your ego is your most developed faculty... hope you don't make someone else pay for that.

It is better to err on the side of caution when it comes to delicate internal organs like the kidneys. To do otherwise can be considered foolish and irresponsible behavior.

CD

Why would it be irresponsible?
Are you not confidant enough in your tenure that you know how hard you could hit such an area and not cause any damage?

I am confident in my abilities. Thank you. :) Different body types can take different levels of play. People with more padding have less pronounced areas that need to be avoided while people who are thinner have more pronounced "avoid at all costs" areas that are more defined. I would feel more comfortable playing around those "edgy" areas because I have some experience... but don't recommend it as a rule to people who's experience I am unfamiliar with. Especially as a blanket statement that can condone that type of impact play to someone with little or NO experience. Ergo, it is best to tell folks to avoid those particular areas and err on the side of caution, rather then to let a newer person mistake the information and damage someone thru lack of knowledge and overconfidence.

It's pretty well known to not hit someone in the kidneys.

But do you agree with this as a must never do are is there a way to do this without hurting anyone.

Your thoughts?

Is this a forbidden fruit story...as in you want to do it just because you've been told not to do it???

You are correct.. And i'm sure kidneys vary in range inside different folks bodies. To bad we can't get x-rays before a scene.

yeah..much as I love cinchers and corsets, I insist that I be able to breathe while wearing them..LOL  I don't go for a wasp waist ...
The rib cage offers some protection..I know that (in the arm across to hold me up scenario) if the arm slips off my ribs (or is ..um, bounced off..lol) I will adjust myself automatically so that my ribs are taking the pressure.

Pretty much. Feathers work well clothespins to skin. And of course by light that would be i'd say somethign akin to a light pat on the ass. everyones idea of hard and light vary so that's a good way to try and define it.

No my ego's just fine and you shouldn't judge one by a question to think they aim for bad bits of the body and wail on them intentionally.

Oh no not at all.

But as persephonee10 said on page one. One of her previous dommes was concerned. But suffice it to say no ones kidneys were ever targeted on purpose, and I do feel were never touched at all nor did those who monitor the goings on to make sure all are safe. On the positive side it was nice of her to care for her safety as more subbies could use such cautious friends.

I'm judging you by the standard that you seem oblivious to the fact that kidneys can (and have been) damaged without being aimed for and whaled on.

Well that's your opinion then and you're welcome to have it, seeing as you barely know me at all, it's a bit short sighted in my opinion.

TieNTeas -> RE: The Kidneys (6/16/2008 7:53:39 PM)

I don't think there is any way to tell if you are doing any damage to the kidneys.  It's not worth the risk to come close to striking in this area.

I simply fell on my back over someones leg one time.  It didn't hurt, there was no mark or bruise.  But, the next day I was peeing blood in my urine.  Fortunately it seemed to heal itself withing a few days.  Although I did have to have x-rays and an IVP done to be safe.  A few years later I had kidneystones that the doctors thought were related to this.

There is no way I'd risk the long and short term health of a sub in this way.

Ouch. Point well made.
