Now I see who you're talking about.  The lunatic fringe.  The "kill abortion doctors to stop murder" whackos.  Thats not the republican party calling for you to be killed.  Thats the escapees from the looney bin.  And some of them are democrats.

Since I haven't had to listen to Limbaugh at work in a while, I have no idea about Denver.  I already gave the idk shrug for Hannity.  Coulter is a psychotic bitch.  And Liddy...?????  What do you expect from him?
They are all talk show hosts who make money by saying things that people can bitch about.  It is as much their job to piss people off as it is Howard Stern's job to talk trashy and shock the uptight people who claim that they never listen to his show.
I suppose Sharpton has never started a riot over something taken completely out of context.  Jesse Jackson had never tried to start a riot by pushing a lie about an actbeing racist when it was not.  Actually, those last two have been done by those two men.  Just because they can't keep the ratings up on the talk shows they've tried to start doesn't mean that they aren't doing the same things.
I'll look up the examples you posted but that just proves that there are assholes on both sides ... like I said.

popeye1250 -> RE: "I`m voting republican" New political ad. (6/19/2008 12:56:51 PM)

Iron, so I shouldn't have a say in how my country is run?
And as for "Foreign policy" BOTH the Dems and Repubs are miserable failures at it!
All they know how to do is "more money" and "more troops."
The U.S. State Dept is absolutely *incapable* of sitting down and cutting a deal without cutting a *check* as well!
You could pick up winos from the street to do the same thing and for a lot less!
Hell, they've become *advocates* for foreign countries getting even more of our money!
As for Obama and his three years in the senate and his being a "Brilliant Legal Scholor" the LAST thing anyone should want in our govt is anymore lawyers!
Look where we are now because of having so many lawyers in govt.
I wouldn't want govt. being overloaded with truck drivers or electricians either, in a few years (they'd) all be making $300k.
(Any) group that gets in govt soon starts making "rules" excluding other groups from replacing them!
As for "experience" that's the problem in Washington, *too many people in govt with too much experience!*
Those jobs aren't supposed to be "careers."
Kennedy, 44 years in the senate, Bird, 50 years in the senate and senile at 90 years old!
"Statesmen?"
Ask any divorce lawyer, they're, "Brilliant Legal Scholors" too!
On the front page of the Wall Street Journal for June 17th there's a headline stating; "Obama Plans Spending Boost, Possible Cut In Business Tax."
Nice! So the middle class would shoulder even more taxes!
That's what Democrats "know", "tax and spend." And now the Repubs have taken a lesson from them!
It's funny that people say the U.S. was "isolationist" under FDR's Admin. and that's what caused Pearl Harbor. Ask any Democrat if they think FDR was an "isolationist." "NO! Of course not!"
Could you then say that we were "isolationist" under Bush and that's what caused 911?
So, the more *money* we give in foreign aid the less "isolationist" we are?
We need to *force* our govt to change the *direction* that we're headed in.
There are a lot of things that our govt "shouldn't" be doing!
We're *paying* people in govt to solve our problems and to run our country not to run a charity for foreign countries! When did that change?
Anytime anyone in govt mentions "foreign policy" *hide your wallets!*
Remember Madeleine Albright and her "Marshall's Plan for Eastern Europe?"
I could never understand why liberals "cared" so much about people in foreign countries and even adopt foreign babies as "status symbols" while they ignore the poor in the U.S. who they promise the moon to each election and never deliver!
Sorry, but if a couple hundred thousand people in Africa want to hack each other up with machetes I'm not going to pick up a rifle to stop them.
Obama's already talking about "doing something" about "genocides" in Africa.
And "doubling" foreign aid.
And giving U.S. Citizenship to millions of people who sneak into our country every year!
*No president* should even think of doing things like that!
He's saying he'll assume duties that are not his to assume.
So, we'll exchange "Iraq" for "Darfur?"
This is why the higher up people in govt go the more the need for "job descriptions."
The people in Washington are currently giving our money to more than 130 countries! Every country in the Carribean is getting "foreign aid!"
These programs have become like entitlement programs, funded year after year after year! We just gave Jordan $100m for "military assistance."
If this isn't "global socialism" please explain to me just what is?
I thought we were supposed to be "competing" in a "global economy?"
You don't help your competition!
Washington needs to start taking care of "Our House" like they're supposed to be doing!
Isolationism would be a lot cheaper than the Interventionism and Imperialism that we're engaging in right now.
And, we'd be pissing off a lot less people.
When I vote for someone I am voting for them to take care of my country, not someone elses' country.
All McCain has to do to get elected is sit back and let Obama talk!
McCain will be "the devil we know", "the lesser of two evils."

Kittin, you don't think what we're doing now is Imperialism?

midnightpassion -> RE: "I`m voting republican" New political ad. (6/19/2008 1:38:47 PM)

we should each take a moment to review all the statements made by each canidate. Most will see all the flip flops and sound bites mean nothing, all we have is what they did in the past. History  of each voting record and former pre presidental canidacy is what they will do in the office president, we all should ignore all the rederic and catering to special interests groups.. they will say whatever is needed to win. so lets base our vote on the history of each canidacy?

kittinSol -> RE: "I`m voting republican" New political ad. (6/19/2008 1:57:43 PM)

This is what I know: McCain, once elected, could potentially appoint Supreme Court judges that would threaten abortion rights. He has made his stance on the subject abundantly clear.

To me, it's enough to vote for the other side.

i'd like to think of it as our country[;)]...but that's preposterous...i think you know i never implied that.

You seem to equate "global" with hand outs.  i am talking about statesmanship...diplomacy.  Being part of the solution, not part of the problem.  Don't you wonder why no one buys American goods?  Not even Americans...Our sense of innovation, diplomacy, even healthy competition with other forward thinking countries has been overshadowed by our " we don't play nicely with others" approach to foreign policy.  Foreign policy encompasses more than war, and trade.  It means being at energy summits not merely to say we came, but to listen and offer our great scientific minds the chance to be part of the discussion.  Not to steadfastly deny anything that goes against the agenda of politicos, at the expense of the American people.  Foreign policy isn't enforcing a mock democracy upon the unwilling to satisfy our needs...it means supporting democractic policies globally.  Backing peacekeeping measures in counties that desperately want the freedoms we have.  If the world progresses without our input- without our active involvement in policy and advancements, we can't expect to benefit, or be a part of any of the successes, that take place.  Hiding in the US and later emerging after all the hard work is done expecting to be considered one of the world's leading nations is meshugas.
Of course the Iraq war is imperialism...you'll never hear me say differently.  Money to Jordan, and other monies you mentioned to other countries...usually not really aid.  Jordan is oil rich and slightly friendly...that is what the oil guys (Bush) consider security...you're from MA...it's pretty much mafia tactics with oil when dealing with  many mid-Eastern countries.  This only goes to prove my point.  To act as if only liberals(read:Dems) have their hands in the taxpayer's pocket using tax monies for social programs and humanitarian aid is myopic...and that is where i find issue.  Big Business...run by guys that tend to fund the G.O.P. use tax loopholes to get rich...not to help anyone other than executives.  As an Independent, i don't feel comfortable leaning to one side or the other...both are flawed...the two-party system, imo is flawed but that's another story.  i just feel Independents (read: moderates) shuld be able to be balanced and not reduced to the bipartisan namecalling that goes on...and quoting unproven rumors as fact to say Dems or Repubs are superior.  Independents btw are no more superior than anyone else...but i thik we should strive to be fair, when the ones right or left of us squabble.

LMFAO thats the only way I can responde to this. Our government has grown and taken more control of us in the past 8 years than in the past 100

Under the Republican party, in the last 8 years, we have had secret courts established, originally to deal with terrorists, but since then have been given power over dealing with possible subversive groups within the United States such as the so called private militias, minority rights groups, anti war groups, etc.

We have a government pushing for a national ID that will be able to be used to track every movement you make, either state to state, or to american territories.  The second part of that id system is also to be used to "limit the travel of individuals within the United States who may be suspected of criminal or terrorist involvement."  So much for innocent till proven guilty.

A law has been passed that eliminates the presidents requirement to advise congress he is considering the declaration of martial law, which means he can do it with no constitutional balance of power to prevent it.

But, on the other hand, what would be so bad living in a Police State?

So we are restricted in travel, have our human rights as defined in the constitution restricted or eliminated.....

You know, I just had a wild thought, with all the recent laws passed that have impacted constitutional rights and nobody gives a crap about, how bout we tear down all the monuments to the founding fathers, burn the constitution (nobody gives a tinker's damn about it anyway) and  roll belly up like a scared dog and let the government walk all over us.

But, at the first sign that a President who supported the patriot acts, as unconstitutional as they are, is about to declare martial law, I am outa here.

I am what is referred to as a yellow dog democrate, I would as soon vote for a yellow dog before I would vote for a republican.

Jlf, "all the laws they passed in the last eight years."
You know what our "out" is, they never *Enforce* those laws!
Why do you think we have 20-30 million illegal aliens in this country, because "they" enforce our immigration laws?
This "government" is a fucking Paper Tiger!

Which secret courts were those established 8 years ago?

Seems there`s a bit of amnisia going around.lol

Seven and a half years, wasn`t that long ago.

Just to remind folks,we had it pretty good under Clinton.

Personal savings was going up ,along with the standard of living.

Wages were out pacing inflation and consumer debt was going down.

Clinton left office with the largest surplus in American history, three and a half trillion dollars.

Bush has spent us into the poor house and left us with the biggest debt in American history, three and a half trillion dollars.

I think there is a difference and the record is plain to see.

WTF happened to the 7 trillion, anyway?

Where the fuck is the money?

But...he got a blow job from an intern, and that is where civilization as we know it ceased to exist!!!!!  A pox upon his house!!!!![8|]

I still think that if Bush had a Monica, we wouldn't be Iraq, and I might still have some of the civil liberties which have been stripped from me.

Alison

jlf1961 -> RE: "I`m voting republican" New political ad. (6/19/2008 6:38:18 PM)

Under the patriot acts, the justice department was given the authority to establish 'invistigative' courts.  The judges, prosecutors, even the invistigators working for these courts are kept secret from the public,  each judge is put on the bench for a 6 month duration.

Since then, the courts have issued over a thousand search warrents, detained at least 200 naturalized american citizens while possible terrorist connections were invistigated.

As for the laws not being inforced, WHAT do you think gave the FBI, DEA, and state invistigating agencies the power to place wiretaps WITHOUT court order?  What do you think gave the power to the Naturalization and Immigration Service the power to deny people the right to enter the states after being granted a legal visa?  By the way, some of the people refused entry to the states were parents and family of a girl being treated at St. Judes for a rare cancer, two priests who were outspoken in thier opinion of the Iraq war, and a number of returning college students.

The patriot acts also give the Immigration service legal grounds to deny re-entry to the United States of US citizens until the reason for travelling abroad is invistigated.

The patriot acts were inforced when legal muslim aliens were detained and invistaged after 9/11, some of which were shipped to Gitmo.

Iron, I largely agree with you there but you're still spouting a bit of "global socialism" and "gimme, gimme, gimme, from foreign countries.
I'm glad to see countries try to become democratic but I don't want to pay for it.
And I agree with you that BOTH Repubs and Dems are no good bastards.
I disagree with you when you say things like the U.S. being a "global leader!"
No Thank You! ENOUGH!!!

A few days ago YahooNews had an article about how all other countries were watching our elections "intently."
Why? Would it have anything to do with how much they think they're going to $benefit from our elections?
Iron, they're *ALL* looking for something from us!
They treat us like the drunken uncle who falls asleep on the couch with a pocket full of change!

Alumbrado -> RE: "I`m voting republican" New political ad. (6/19/2008 6:53:27 PM)

OK, but if you are talking about the FISA courts, their establishment had nothing to do with the Patriot Act, and they already had issued thousands of secret warrants since they were established in the 1970s.

http://epic.org/privacy/wiretap/stats/fisa_stats.html

jlf1961 -> RE: "I`m voting republican" New political ad. (6/19/2008 7:01:49 PM)

Actually, I knew of FISA, what I am talking about deals with people inside the US borders, citizens or not.

Under the constitution, all warrents served on US citizens must be presented to the one being searched at the earliest possible time, not six months later when an indictment is handed down.  Sounds like illegal search and seizure to me.
