I totally agree about the Claudia Varrin books. I'm not sure who mentioned them but when I saw this topic, they were what I thought would be best.

When I still lived in central CA, I was a long-time member of a BDSM group. For the group, I built a members only lending library from scratch. I was the librarian until I moved to Oregon.

As far as "basic" books go, most were too bland. But Claudia Varrin's books have a "hot" quality to them that the others lack. It makes for some very nice reading! :)

You have to understand that Femdom is sort of the hated genre by other BDSM groupies. Doms despise male subbies and the same is true of the femsubs hating Dommes. Its the nature of the beast, but there are books out there that deal with Femdom.

Did I miss a super secret subbie memo?  Since when do female submissives hate Dommes?

I don't know, wanders alone. But i admit a strong prefrence to hanging around with more open minded people. I have had Male Doms who struggled with Fem Dommes - because they prefered a subbier attitude in their women. But those who were like that who i was friends with still had Fem Domme friends. I certainly have no problem with Fem Dommes or male subs. I have a subsister who is a malesub, in fact. having lifestyle friends is important to me, and that means being open to a variety of peeps, imo.

I'm a pansexual Domme and have NEVER seen this to be true in all the years I have been in the community. Frankly, I think you are confusing Domme or Dom, or submissive with sexual orientation terms; heterosexual, gay/lesbian, bi or neuter.

Personality type, in this case dominant or submissive, has little to do with gender identification or gender orientation. Maybe you have met more heterosexuals and have based your opinions on such but that does NOT make this blanket statement true.

Some women ARE Dominant.  Others just PLAY Domme.  Some of us just want to learn new techniques.  For that... I actually learned a lot going to Frolicon in Atlanta and attending all the classes.  Considering that none of my R/L boys were ever into CBT - I had A LOT to learn!  I even went so far as to find a sub who listed "CBT-Expert" on his profile and asked him a lot of questions.  There is SO much to know.  Hands-on learning is the best.  But being open to understanding that no one knows everything and how to ask questions is the next best thing.

I've always felt that if you get the "mind right" the rest just flows.
