To think he graduated from the United States Naval Academy - a rather elite educational institution that requires a congressional appointment to get into and that has one of the toughest Honor Codes of any institution in the world. Then he was commissioned an officer in the US Navy, making him "a gentleman by act of congress." Then he went on to serve a life in the US Navy, whose core values are "Honor, Courage, Committment"... Yep, I can just see the immorality and stupidity ooozing from him... Hell I suppose McCain's whole family is a disgraceful lot of amoral stupid people - afteral Capt John Sidney McCain III, is the son of Admiral John Sidney McCain Jr. and the grandson of Admiral John Sidney McCain. Its not like he has a nice family like Obama's - you know like Odinga the African warlord who unleashed massacres in Kenya and who tried to overthrow the govt there and got convicted of treason? His service is very honorable. But a life of service does not make you smart, nor does it make you make good decisions. Ask the 25% of the military who are cited or arrested for Drunk Driving, Domestic Violence or other infraction within 24 months of returning from active duty. McCain is amoral. He has altered his views on many of his former "beliefs" in order to get the nomination. Whether it's torture or abortion, or guns, his views and votes have changed to court the conservative base of his party. (In 1999- McCain said he would not seek to overturn Roe v. Wade because it would lead to illegal abortions. That is not what he says now.) As many lobbyists have pointed out, he favor and influence are for sale. As for his family, you mention the men... how about the women... the wife whom he left after she was in a car accident because she was no longer beautiful (and she wasn't rich enough to buy his way into politics) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carol_McCain or the wife who never served a day in prison for drug charges/identity theft and falsifying records at the CHARITY where she volunteered- all of which she did plead guilty to. She got probation and community service (Yes, Drug Addition, theft and recovery are part of her Wikipedia entry)... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cindy_Hensley_McCain. He may not be stupid, but he is technologically challenged and not particularly bright about covering this up. When asked whether or not he uses a Mac or a PC, his answer is "neither. I let my wife do everything like that for me." Later on he was offered a chance to reclaim this lost ground, and he said "I don't understand Google." Okay- think about it. Do you want a president who can't figure out GOOGLE? This is the man who gets the final say on DMR, New Millenia copyright registration, and end user rights. So this is the Republican candiate. (Note: real republican values are good. I want less governmental interference, lower taxes, and a strong defense. But Bush and McCain aren't about these things.) I can't see why the Republicans want him. The fights he wants to pick (Iran/Syria) will gut our economy and our national defense. He's admitted that he has committed adultry multiple times. He didn't stand by his former wife when she needed him. His current wife is a former drug addict and thief. His plans for nuclear plants are terrifying, not because they are nuclear- but because they will be built by the same folks who built showers in Iraq that electrocute soldiers. Okay- enough ranting... but I really don't see why republicans want this guy. Do you really want to be at war with Iran and Syria at the same time we are rebuilding Iraq and Afghanistan? Do you need a draft? Do you like $10 a gallon gasoline? Do you like having our defense gutted so that any domestic emergencies will be catastrophic? Don't you think you will miss your freedoms, including the right to own a gun, to speak your mind, and to have a private conversation? Alison
