I thought liberals were tolerant and inclusive.  Hmmm, apparently not.

That article this morning was the final straw for any chance of me ever voting for Obama.

Probably thought they were republicans trying to make fun of him... I'm sure Obama was there to personally turn them away himself.

Nice try, but he is responsible for who works on his behalf.  You can deflect this with a snarky remark about Republicans all you want, but the truth is there.  The women came to support him, and they were obviously enthusiastic about doing so.  The campaign volunteers singled them out because of their ethnicity and religion.  It's bigotry plain and simple.  Obama doesn't get a free pass on it.

Vendaval -> RE: Obama campaign voluteers exclude Muslim women (6/19/2008 10:35:43 PM)

The volunteers who told Hebba Aref and Shimaa Abdelfadeel that they could not be seated in view of the cameras were not following Obama's campaign policy.  And an official spokesperson has apologized.

Of course he's apologized and said that it wasn't part of official policy.  If they had an official policy dealing with such matters (which I doubt.) than they bare the responsibility of training their volunteers.  The brother of one of these women has already gone on record saying it's too late for an apology.  The damage has already been done.  According to the brother, both women were extremely hurt by the treatment they received.  Apologies don't mean anything if they're not backed up by action.

So, it seems that Obama gets skewered, by some of you, no matter what positions he takes. I can imagine the posts and accusations if he had accepted the endorsement and support  of  Muslims of either gender. You're  racist  prejudice and hypocrisy is transparent.

Yes, it was wrong.  There was an apology.  How's he getting a free pass?  On the other hand, I remember numerous instances of the same thing happening during Bush's events that never even were acknowledged by the Great Decider.

popeye1250 -> RE: Obama campaign voluteers exclude Muslim women (6/19/2008 10:51:46 PM)

Well, they said on CNN last night that Obama staffers didn't want him to be "associated" with muslims "given today's political climate" whatever that means.
Then, to cover their asses they later said that "no headgear" could be worn in any pictures with Obama.
So, if you wear a Yankees' hat, a Stetson, or a Firefighter's helmet and you want a pic with the big cheese you need to take it off I guess.
And the other day at a rally one of Obama's staffers said, "Hey! Where's all the white people?"
"We need white people in this audience."
It's been a bad last week or so for Obama.

Actually, I wouldn't say a word if he accepted the endorsement of Muslims.  I really don't care; it would make no difference to me.  I have no prejudicial notions about Muslims.

My problem with this incident is that it is a glimpse into Obama's organizational style.  If he can't train campaign volunteers, then why should I believe he could manage an entire branch of the Federal government?

Everytime someone in the opposition points out a flaw of someone on the Left, they are accused of a PC violation like racism.  My racism is transparent indeed.  [8|]  You're the one who's being transparent in your prejudice by trying to turn the tables.

Where is it a crime to be both Democratic and Racist, but not Republican and Racist.  Did you see all those racists buttons or something being handed out in Texas.  The people on MSNBC just laughed it off as another Republican tactic.  I see this as people desperately trying to nail Obama on *something*.  Oh, please oh please, if there's nothing wrong with Obama, let's try to attack his staff.... surely one out of thousands of them will do *something* wrong!!  please oh please let there be something to attack Obama on  LMFAO.  oh brother *eye roll*

Cjan, lol, it has nothing to do with "race" to me, I just don't like Democrats! lol
I'm sitting back and watching things fall apart just like they did for John French Kerry and Al "I invented the internet" Gore!
We're going to have a Hat Trick here buddy!

"Whatever that means"?  Come on, you know exactly what it means.  Republicans have been spreading rumors that he's a Muslim to try and portray him as a terrorist sympathizer.  Including many on this site.  Sound familiar?  I'm not trying to defend what they did, but that's politics folks!

Well, I don't need to pray for something.  I had no opinion on the man early on.  I listened to him.  He hasn't come up with ONE plan to execute his ideas.  His campaign is seriously flawed.  It's only the beginning, and he is already making serious mistakes.  He's not in the primary anymore; that was child's play compared to what's going on now.  You can say what you want about Republicans, but they have their shit together when it comes to elections.  Obama is going to get his ass handed to him in November.

"All hail the great, infallable Brilliant Legal Scholor Obama who can do no wrong!"

After today there'll be a new slogan for the Obama campaign; "SHOW ME THE MONEY!"

popeye1250 -> RE: Obama campaign voluteers exclude Muslim women (6/19/2008 11:06:53 PM)

Rule, don't ask me, his staffers are the ones who said it!
Call his local campaign office tommorrow and ask them what they meant by that.
Let us know what they tell you!
I was "" quoting CNN.

As opposed to John McCain, whose ideas are equally vague?

popeye1250 -> RE: Obama campaign voluteers exclude Muslim women (6/19/2008 11:16:06 PM)

Rule, also tonight on CNN they showed copies of those "before" and "after" photos of the two women that Obama's staffers doctored up.
In the first picture they had their headgear on, in the second picture their headgear was airbrushed out or however they did it.
It was the same exact picture only the women had nothing on their heads!
