Two ladies with whom I scene from time to time have very different attitudes towards drinking during play. One very much likes to enjoy a few glasses of good red wine-- she finds it relaxing, sensual and mood setting. Another won't drink at all before or during play-- she equates it to driving heavy equipment under the influence. I realize that there's a wide continuum here-- a glass or two of wine is NOT the same as getting sloppy and out of control. Likewise, some types of play are more technical and risky than others-- equipment based breath control is lot different than T&D, for instance. But I'm curious about the practices, and attitudes, of others out there. What's your position? Regards, ATP

In the scene in general it's highly taboo to drink alcohol or do illegal drugs and then play. But a heck of a lot of people do it quite regularly without problems. Just like you assess your play partners state of mind and understanding and physical abilities before you play sober, you do the same when you aren't. I have absolutely no problem with my partner having a few beers and then us getting into a nice bondage and flogging scene. Myself I wouldn't trust after one beer because I never drink alcohol and it would effect me too much. drinking wine pre exchange would make me sleepy and thats not the point of my bdsm . Having others drink or use drugs prior to an exchange with me would cloud their judgment so no thanks .

Im more B than A...I dont drink as a general practice in life... however, I can imagine a scene in which a nice glass of wine would be appropriate generally that scene would involve me being the one being prone and he being the one doing all the work

As a general rule I don’t play with someone and drink, especially if it is a new partner. Also I don’t scene with someone who has been drinking. I have had a couple of drinks with dinner during a munch and then attended a private party and had a scene. For most one or two drinks and then bottoming is not and issue, I would use personal judgment before topping if someone was drinking, if they seemed impaired or diminish in any way I would pass for the evening. Alcohol does numb the scenes and the bottom may not feel the full effect until too late and I wouldn’t want to cause undue damage ~jesi~

I think it depends on the people and what they are going to do. One Mistress I served would enjoy a glass of wine while receiving foot massages, putting me into light bondage. But when it came to things such as play piercings, or breath play then there was no drinking by anyone

Hmmmm, the answer for me is very simple: absolutely, positively no alcohol. Period. I don't drink alcohol to start with. Mistress gets high and buzzed on the way I react to what She is doing, not off of booze. Hearing me whimper, moan, and gurgle from behind my gag gets Her juices going. Watching me melt into Her as I wiggle, squirm, and writhe in my tight, restrictive rubber suit does something to Her that is indescribable...at least that's what She tells me. So, not a drop of alcohol here. If you trust someone enough to play with them after they've been drinking, knock yourself out. I love edge play, but that's too edgy for me. I don't find it safe in the least. In my opinion, alcohol lowers one's ability to think rationally, no matter how little is consumed. I don't understand why some do it to "relax" before a scene. I know when I play, I don't want to relax unless it's strictly a nice rubber bondage scene with nothing else. If it's not just an encasement bondage scene, I want to go into overload and a frenzy because of all the glorious tortures that Mistress will bestow upon me. When She's torturing me, She get's wired for sound and somewhat "possessed".....mmmmmmmmmmmm, I love that look She gets in those gorgeous, evil eyes! *wipes away the drool* [sm=passthelube.gif]

Weather it is a glass of wine or a shot of JD I do not mix alchohol with my scenes, when I could drink I knew how it affected my body, my reaction time ect. so it was very dangerous for me to do so especially with the kind of play that I enjoy. Now that I can't drink even half a glass of wine due to medication it is a definat no. -laughs- Blessed be, Nika

I'm against it. While I like to have wine, I never drink if I ever contemplate playing. I also do not like being around people who play and drink... not for all, but I think it indicates poor judgement.

I agree with Madame4a..if you want to drink a glass of wine or the bubbly or knock back a beer or two,consume it after play has ended.

I don't generally drink. I've gone to dinner and had a margarita and come home and played an hour or two later, but that's generally as far as I'm comfortable taking it. More than anything, if I DO screw up, I don't want to forever wonder if it was the alcohol, you know?

Depends entirely on the scene -- having my feet worshipped in public? Champagne or a couple of vodka gimlets are fine. Singletail? No more than one glass of wine (my eyesight and aim need all the help they can get), Basic impact scene? Glass of wine. Ropework? I'll have a beer or two afterwards, but not before. Stuff I don't get to do a lot, like electrical play? Nothing until I'm done playing. Most of the people I go to parties and play with have been in the scene for a while and are pretty experienced, so they are similar when it comes to alcohol. At public dungeons, nothing but coffee or diet soda. It's all good to me.

While I do enjoy a good drink, generally speaking, I don't drink when I swing or scene. It isn't because of any negative effects to my judgement or perception-it's wonderful being a multiorgasmic male but alcohol STOPS me from cumming, something that frustrates me to no end. Now my subs are different-one enjoys a good drink before a scene, another loves wine to relax her and my bottom doesn't drink at all. We all co-exist because we are mature and know our limits. What works for one doesn't work for another and that is how WE work. Now this is just applicable for our private scenes. If it is somewhere that we are not necessarily alone (i.e. a public dungeon), the then rule for ALL is no alcohol.

I don't drink much in the vanilla world....so one beer has me in the corner asleep...not what my sub is looking for... I won't play anyone that's been drinking...and IF I drink it's after a scene...I like to be wide awake and fully attentive to every sound, twitch, moan, groan etc my sub is making...can't do that asleep in the corner! It all comes down to...what are YOU ok with? You do have the right to go Nah I don't think I'm going to play tonight if you think they have had too much to drink.

After consuming a "few" glasses of wine which typically has a much higher alcohol content in it than beer, one's blood alcohol levels would test high enough to be legally drunk or impaired in most states. Most of the play8 I encountered was spontaneous for the most part at some point when I was with someone, over a period of time...* Like the times I stayed...put =L= Theres a difference between playing at dungeons...play parties... and at home...alone. I found it very comforting... when I contacted groups in the beginning and asked if any drinking went on at public events...and they would reply...no. I personally don`t drink...if others want to part take in a few drinks before hand...no problem... Now drunks? That a different story...
