ORIGINAL: thishereboi Obama is sure the repubs are going to play the race card.....isn't that like playing the race card in reverse? http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080620/pl_nm/usa_politics_obama_race_dc i'm confused...are we playing poker, or Uno...oh wait!!! Spades, right? psst... the answer to your question is NO... Waking up as a black man everyday is a fact of Obama's life...and people noticing and focusing on his being black, is also a fact. We don't live in some magical land where people don't recognize race. Perhaps the official statements made by the RNC will not address race, and many repubs will not have race be an issue, but it's safe to say that some supporters, some organizers will use race as a tactic in swaying voters without sufficient cognitive skills to use the issues as a sole basis in choice. Shameful, but true. On the other hand...when i ask African-American people Obama's stance on an issue is...and they don't know, then i ask...well why vote for him? i get looks of outrage and disgust. One,(the racist slant used by some against Obama that basically uses his being black as reason enough to demean and villify him) is based on racial hatred, but another is based on racial preference...neither is a good enough reason to choose a candidate. However, using the fear and prejudice of un-educated ignorant people as a campaign strategy is nothing new (Catholic Kennedy), and so Obama shouldn't expect to be treated with kid gloves. Politics is a dirty business.
