What is the absolute dumbest thing one of your pets has ever done. I swear that our dog, a Great Dane/Boxer mix has the intelligence of a sack of nickels. As sweet as he is, he's just stupid. I wonder what dogs think, honestly. Just the other day, he decided he had to demolish our trampoline. He tore up the net, yanked off all the padding, and when we caught him, he was sitting on the trampoline, as if he needed to get a little exercise.

I'm curious to see what other goofy pet stories folks out there have...

Mydog is not destructive or dumb, however the dumbest thing he did was as a youngen he ate things:P he'
d constantly shred paper towls or paper plates.

Dogs seem to have this weird fetish for paper towels, toilet paper, etc. I wonder why that is...

Seems like the sheperd types have a particular affinity for paper products. One of my coworkers has a shepherd mix and when he brings him to work, he'll consistently come in my office, snag a napkin, and just run off to do who knows what with it.

I have two black labs. They take my shoes off the porch and then try and tease me by making me chase them. I'm in hella good shape, but running through ten acres worth of woods on the backside of a mountain after a couple of two-year-old labs that want to play all day, will-work over even the best of us.

I'm afraid I can't be of much help on this topic. I've only been intensely involved with two black labs and my cats, Otis and Daisy. They've all been able to outwit me time and time again.

If Otis and Daisy could talk, they could probably tell you lots of "dumb Bob" stories.

I agree with Bob, my guys outsmart me most of the time...

However, Kitten Little has, on occasion, jumped head first into a cardboard box, got stuck and howled until we rescued her, only to do it again, and again...

Then there was the time Pup E Dog dumped our canoe trying to get to a dog on shore, and when we pried him off Master's chest, kept swimming away from shore to the middle of the lake..

I have a lovely little kitty and she does some very interesting things, I think her best one happened a couple months ago.

We had a hampster named Hermione who lived in an aquarium on the kitchen counter. Well, one day I was sitting at the table watching Mononoke (the cat) who was watching Hermione digging a hole. All of a sudden Mononoke started swinging her tail back and forth and then decided to pounce on the little morsel. She (or course) smacked her face on the glass and then looked around to see if anyone saw. She saw me sitting there laughing my butt off and slunk off and hid under the bed

Here's one of my favorites.

Our cat loves to climb. from the time he was big enough, he was all over everything. We have two empty aquariums - a 15G sitting on top of a 55G. The first time he managed to get on them, he jumped in and then realized he couldn't get out. We laughed at him and figured he'd never do THAT again. WRONG! Now he's big enough to get in and out, but it's not easy....i have no idea why he likes to get in it in the first place. Maybe he was a goldfish in a former life?

Gizmo is adorable. Gizmo is my little man. Gizmo is my sweetie. I get all sorts of panicked when he gets outside and I have to go somewhere (work, etc.) and can't find him to bring him in before I go.

But Gizmo has a few... problems.

He climbs both of the couches as though they were mountains. He runs down the halls after the other cats and often can't stop fast enough to evade that darned wall. He wants to snuggle with people - under the covers - behind the backs of their legs - with his claws oh so gently inserted into one's thighs. He leaps over the armchair in order to get to the cat tree located behind it, causing the cat tree to rock backward and crash into the kitchen table. He helps himself to anything and everything his little kitty teeth can get into - no matter what the substance might be. He accidentally locks himself in cupboards in the kitchen by prying open doors and disappearing into the abyss of pots and pans. He - unlike a number of other cats I've known - doesn't mind getting all soggy in the sink, just so long as he can find a way to fit his head under a spout of running water. He knows the sound of the bathroom door opening and comes running so he'll be able to join the occupant - why I'll never know! He enjoys trying to sit himself upon one's lap whilst one is on ye ol' John. He delights in ripping up toilet paper rolls with his teeth and claws - not to mention paper towel rolls.

The list goes on... and on... and on... Ah but... He's my brat and I adore the little furball.

All of the pets I've had have done something stupid in their time. Mostly it ended pretty tragically, though, so I'm not going to elaborate.

I had sugargliders for years, who if'n ya don't know, glide like a flying squirrel. Well, one day we decided to give them an easy surface to scale so that they could fly from the ceiling all the way to the floor. Gynn and Tonik quickly figured out that they could 'run' up these wall hangings/blankets and soar down to me so they'd spend hours doing this. They'd scamper all the way up as fast as their little legs could go and wheeee, glide back down. Many times they missed their mark and landed smack on my face. Or maybe that was their mark? Seeing them fly is like a rat hangliding with all four legs stretched out, only smaller and with furry tail ;)

No doubt you are correct, as every lab I have had in the past likes shoes. But when it comes teasing, now that's a trait born of individuality that ya gotta admire, even if it sometimes makes you late for an appointment or two. ;}

I have a Boston Terrier who chases rocks when we go for walks. It started out by accident when we first started walking by me kicking a rock to keep from getting bored. Now I have to find 2 rocks for her when we go out. Once I kick one she keeps it in her mouth until I kick the other one and then she changes rocks! She brings one inside with her and then my other Boston decided to chew on them!

Gowing up we had a Boxer. He had a rather bad problem with gas. LOL.
Many nights we would be in the family room watching TV, with our loyal Charlie at our feet sleeping. Invariably at some point he would * fart*. He would wake up startled, and start barking at his butt. We would all roar with laughter. He did it all his life and it was always a surprise to him.

my boy Cody- a wannabe hockey player LOL.
He is Australian Shepard/husky/lab . he LOVES plastic bottles and no matter where we go for a walk, if i say to him "find the bottle" he will run off looking and sure enough come back with one ( he finds one every time i swear he has some sort of radar)

anyway, he will bring it over to me and drop at my feet, wanitng me to kick it, and he then plays like he is a hockey goalie, moving back and forth trying to block. we must look silly to people - me trying to kick and get a goal and him trying to block it.
i adore that boy.

I used to sleep on the couch a lot when we first got out big old Dozer, and he had the most horrible gas issues. Imagine having a Great Dane walk by you while you're almost asleep and getting a big old air biscuit right in your face!

I had a cat who would gallop after a ball like a dog would. I'd throw the ball into the kitchen and he'd chase it at breakneck speed across the slick linoleum floor....realizing at the last second that he was going to slam into the wall...and he'd start backpedalling, to no avail.....

I know it's cruel, but it was funny as hell. And he'd only do it once. Ah, he was well padded.
