Edit:

To clarify, something emotionally cruel, not physically cruel.

Status: offline 		Yes I have..I wont go into the details of it because it is a personal matter for her, but it was with the intention of getting her into a head space where she would beable to let go and confrount some past issues that she had.  Worked really well though it was very hard on her at the time.

Status: offline 		Given that everyone has a different threshold for what is cruel, the answer is yes.  I have deliberately made slaves that were oversensitive to something do it until they became desensitized, over came a fear or gained an understanding.  I rarely do this unless it to make them more functional as person.  Crying was optional.

Status: offline 		Why even bring 'cruel' into it?  It's such a loaded and subjective term.  Just leaving it at "have you ever done something to your submissive which you knew would hurt her enough to make her cry" would work just as well.

Status: offline 		Alpha knows that I have a phobia of masks, to the point where I hyperventilate and cry if he's wearing one, so he's done that on occasion. Can't really say it's been fetish-related, but if the idea was put into his head he might try it.

I specifically mention the cruel part of it because of something that caused me to cry. I'm not certain it was deliberate, but if it was, the method was, in my opinion, cruel.

Status: offline 		Yes.  He has done "cruel" things and not-so-cruel things, and I have shed many tears.  Sometimes what he did was intentional; sometimes it was not. 

The questions are, do you trust him?  Do you allow him to be a fallible human?  Are you going to work with him or against him on this?  Only you can answer.

Status: offline 		The person in question is someone I have parted ways with. I just wondered if those who describe themselves as dacryphiliacs would be cruel to get the end effect - are the crying and tears that seductive to them that they would use cruel means.

Status: offline 		Im not sure i would call myself a dacryphiliac, but I will say that I do enjoy making my slave cry through verious means.  It is arousing but I think for diffrent reasons as it is the level of trust she is showing to me to alow me to take her to thoues "scary" places she cant go by herself.

Intentionally creating crying is like a total turn off for me (against my D/s philosophy) but I  once disciplined my sub knowing that I would accept her crying of rejection with it vf she did.  Yes she cried and yes it was extremely damaging for both of us.(very extreme)

The context of your relationship is what's in question here.   I for arguments sake would never slap a woman because even though it is humiliation it also has to be 'connective;'  and good for her to my understanding. Yet I  have slapped a sub many times in play knowing that was her way to 'space' and it did further our connection without either of us viewing the experiences negatively.

So it's about honest probing discussion prior and setting the context- that's my take.

Status: offline 		Define "mental" vs "physical". I've done physical things to submissives that I knew would have a serious mental effect on them, just to break them and bring them to tears.

Yes I have done something to make them cry but it was in the context of a scene and not just because I felt like making someone cry...

I admit that while I greatly enjoy the Dom headspace of making my sub cryWhen that is the intention... very few things are sexier then having a woman cry in my arms (for something I didn't do)  (many factors and the context of the situation do apply)

Status: offline 		There's a flip side to the coin.  I've had a woman tell me she couldn't achieve orgasm unless she was crying, and she wanted me to hurt her until the tears flowed.  Her idea was that this would take place on a first meet, mind you.  I declined.  Too many things that could go wrong.

Of course. However there was no hoping involved. I wasn't going to let up until she was crying.
