Here's the link to the story.....

This is one of the greatest losses to the comedy world. To the world of entertainment period. He  was so funny but spoke the truth.....

I saw him in concert years ago....probably about 19 years ago...I didn't care for him.  I found him annoying and he went on an anti abortion rant that lasted about 20 minutes.

Much like another deceased icon, Hunter Thompson, George kept going long after the damage from the drugs was obvious.  The line between funny/angry and just angry was often lost.

At his best though, there wasn't anybody better.

My God.

I just saw him a couple of years ago when he performed in Colorado Springs.

I'm an amateur comic myself, so I can appreciate his gift.

A true original and much more than a comedian. George Carlin was a master satirist and fearless about goring sacred cows. Like Mark Twain and Lenny Bruce, he shed light on our hypocracies and how powerful, yet silly, attitudes about language can be. His personal journey regarding drug use, the seduction of fame and, finally finding maturity and balance while staying true to himself, is an inspiration to me.

He had/has a web site that I kept up on where he posted observations right up until his passing. Truly one of the great ones. He will be sorely missed.

R.I.P.

In his prime, he was hilarious.
Later, he seemed angry and bitter. He lost me then.
I felt bad for him though.
I will always remember when he first hit the scene...what a gift he had!

As much as I laughed at Carlin's stuff, the memory I still treasure is of his pithy take on U.S. political parties (said on the Whoopi Goldberg Show a couple of decades back):
"Republicans are about property; Democrats are about people."

But my favorite bit is still his Irish Catholic upbringing in NY (as best I recall it):
"It's a sin to want to feel up Mary Ellen, it's a sin to think about feeling her up, it's a sin to plan to feel her up, it's a sin to take her to the place where you're gonna try to feel her up, and it's a sin to feel her up. That's SIX sins in one feel!"

A sad day for funny.  (Of all the Georges, why this one?)

Farewell George, and don't take any crap from God.

I have to agree here. It's been a long time since George said anything that I truly though was funny. He was still always spot in his perspectives of people, society, government and politics but for quite a while now he had seemed like just some pissed off old guy on a rant.

But man... back in the days of "Class Clown" he kept me in stitches. I've missed George for years. Now I'll even miss him more.
