I can just picture him at your kitchen table printing Lumus Jr.

My dad worked for NASA in the 50s and he put my name on a capsule.  It was in orbit for more than 15 years.

Not shocking but unusual to have a piece of space junk floating around for that long with your name on it.

was it the alien space ship that your names on?

I think it was an Atlas rocket body but I don’t remember what the payload was.  However, my dad did sneak home some photos of alien craft.  I was 5 years old and I had 8x10 glossy pics of UFOs on my wall.  I remember looking at a photo of jet that was being paced by a saucer and the next day the same photo was published in the paper… minus the saucer of course.  I was very young when I learned that the media was manipulated.

I spent the summer of '84 in Nicaragua, working with Witness for Peace as a photojournalist covering the first open election in the Sandinista Government. At the time, the Regan administration was funding "Contras"- paying guerillas to overthrow the government there. But they claimed they were only in Honduras (to the north) and that Costa Rica (to the south) was still neutral.

The only time I was shelled and fired upon was in a town right on the border of Coast Rica.

(yes, and I am the one who's son is off to the Marines this fall. You can see why I am in shock.)

I still hold the Queens Commission (that's Brit-speak for used to be an Army officer and, though I don't kill people so much these days, still am technically) and have a medal. I saved a kid's life once (mind you I thought he was waving not drowning) and his ghastly mum wanted to dribble all over me - now that was scary! I've been made redundant (horrible) and made people redundant (even more horrible). And (the shameful secret) I like tying up girls and spanking them.

Since I haven't posted here yet.....

If Darch can admit to being a former minister, I can admit to being a former Mennonite. (Think Amish but with electricity and a phone.)  {There's a reason why I'm so sweet and nice at times...... *sighs* }

In high school and college, I did several years of community theatre and extra work in commercials and movies.

I'm such a geek and a bookworm, that I used to cut school - to go read books at the library. (True story, how embarrassing!)

I earned spending money in Australia by betting the Aussies I could outdrink them. They never believed a Yank could outdrink an Aussie. Drank 'em under the table every time, especially with Bundaberg rum....

Oh the things you learn here.....

'S ok, Angel, you & I still hold the title for innocence AND purity. We can march together!...........

Another secret of mine is that my very 1st pregnant foster was a beagle and she did NOT have an easy time w/delivery. I submitted her story to the city newspaper to endorse spaying/neutering and they printed it! There's a really sweet pic of my "girl" Lady in the article :)
