I assume you're referring to big trucks with 'armstrong' steering.. only once was I grateful for having that in one truck I was driving (cabover KW..late 70s model, I think)..that was when the right steer tire blew out at 70+ mph...

gimme power steering, and I'm a one-handed driver ;) well, except on really rough road.. I needed to hold the steering wheel with both hands cause the damn air seat would bounce me all over the place, otherwise LOL

Status: offline 		in California they have passed a law that you cannot use your cell phone in your car any more. You must be hands free now. Now studies have come out and said that hands free doesn't mean you won't have an accident. probably the same percentage as if you just used your cell phone because you aren't paying attention to the road.

Yes, it's true out here in California you have a turn signal on or trying to merge to get onto the freeway they speed up and cut you off. They run stop signs here like you wouldn't believe. Pass you on the right (thats on the shoulder of the road). God forbid you drive the speed limit of 65 cos everybody is passing you left and right doing 85! I do drive 65 here. I figure i will use less gasoline that way.Problem is everybody speeds up so fast they catch up with the others and then you end up like sardines in a can. You cannot move. So you sit there in idleing traffic. When the road is free and clear you have people on your bumper and god forbid if you have to stop suddenly
because they follow so close. You would end up in the engine compartment. I hate to say this but i have gotten so fed up and at times frightened that i would prefer cameras. The result an instant ticket...CLICK..CLICK.. On one road near work (one lane in each direction), i have come face to face 3 times in 5 years somebody driving in the wrong direction and almost hitting me...

I would pass a law for a camera in each car and whatever infractions you cause you get a ticket. Think of the revenue for the state. I know big brother..but some of us deserve policing as our values and what we do without others watching has come to a screetching halt. What does that say about us?

I have also seen people driving while: changing their clothes, reading the newspaper, flossing their teeth, kissing, fiddling with the radio, brushing their teeth, combing their hair and of course using their cell phone, drinking coffee. the list goes on and on.

oh, and on the trying to get onto the highway...i have actually had people not move and i ended up still on the right side on the shoulder (shoulder was running out and i had to stop). nobody would let me on the freeway to merge...

Well, as a librarian, I'm obligated to say that I'd make a law that stealing/destroying public library materials and refusing to either return/replace them means your driver's license gets revoked.  It's stealing public property that was bought for everyone - not just you, ya selfish asshole - use it and bring it back for cryin' out loud!!!!

Instead of just getting some wimpy little piece of paper in the mail begging you to return it, you'd get an official statement telling you that until such time as you do, your driving privileges are revoked and......your name is going to be printed in bold letters in the local paper as a thief who refuses to return their library materials.  That oughtta be embarrassing enough....muahahaha.............luci, the mercenary librarian

They have had that law in NY for years and it is utterly pointless. Some people can multitask while driving and others cant. For example, there is absolutely no compromise in safety by me talking on the cell phone while driving. For Christs sake airline pilots safely talk on the radio, while navigating, intercepting a localizer beacon, centering CDI needles, adjusting altimeter settings, maintaining a glide slope, briefing passengers, changing radio frequencies, reading approach plates, writing down clearances and taxi instructions, drinking coffee, going through a checklist, and doing several other things. They do this EVERY FLIGHT while "driving" in 3 axis, at 140+ kts forward speed and a 700+ foot per minute vertical descent, without incident.. Using a the cell phone in a car is not going to put me into task overload. Maybe what they need to do instead is better restrict WHO can drive and only give licenses to people with the mental faculties to be able to multitask...

No more allowing someone to translate for you when you are taking the test.
Your translator is not there with you when you are driving to translate all the signs written in english.

AND I want you to understand me when I yell at you, and call you "scum sucking piece skunk shit" for driving like a douche bag!

If I could make just one law, I'd make one that prohibitted the Code of Federal Regulations from exceeding 1,000  pages in total.  The agencies can fight among themselves for space.  But if they wanted to impose a new regulation on us, they'd have to delete one that already existed.  I'd also make them write the damned regulations so you don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand them, and give every citizen a free copy every time there has been a change.
 
Make the F**kwits in government get off our backs, in other words.
 
By the way, I am the dim bulb who moves into the 'fast lane' and then does the speed limit. Until about a year ago I didn't even know there a custom that there was any difference between the two lanes; I thought we could use whichever one we chose. 
 
I still thnk I'm entited to drive the speed limit in the fast lane -- so there!

And, from here on out, the PARENT(S) is/are hereby responsible, not only for the health & sheltering of their offspring, but also for each and every ACTION of said offspring. Kid won't behave? Lock the parents up. 40 years ago, you never heard anything about this ADHD "riddlin" crap.  You acted up, you got your ass beat. Period.  Today's "disciplinary problems" are the results of sparing the rod and spoiling the child.

....and when I'm on an airplane and your kid won't shut the fuck up, look for me, because I'm the one getting ready to take care of the problem.
I was sooo glad to read that article on CNN the other day about that woman and her autistic kid that got booted off the plane because she couldn't control the brat.  Good.  Kick them both off.   The mother should have had the decency about her to take the kid off herself instead of waiting to be forced off.
