What really grinds my gears is when you pay for 2- or 3-day shipping, so they let the package chill out at one of their distribution points for a day or two to make sure it doesn't get there any faster

Edit to add: how can we have all these cool new smileys, but the little angry red guy still doesn't work?

If a package has a departure scan time of  10:10 pacific time Monday the 23rd, which equates to 12:10AM central time and it will be travelling to the central texas hub of Dallas TX, a distance of 1,440.47 miles.

Which in turn equates to a 20 hour drive, and given that the usual pattarn for UPS ground is to stop at various hubs enroute so that items can be put on trucks for that particular state, which would mean a stop in phoenix, el paso, dallas, then back to abilene.

This means travel times of 5.5 hours LA to Phoenix.
6hours 12 minutes from phoenix to El Paso
9 hours  4 minutes from El Paso to Dallas
2hours 41 minutes from dallas back to abilene.

now, if you add an average of 2 hours for sorting and reloading at each hub, you would get a total of 31 hours for the entire transit.

This leads to the conclusion that said package should have been in Abilene tx this morning.

However, the last scan of said package was the departure scan in LA, which indicates the trailer this package was on has not been opened and the contents scanned, which still means the damn thing should have been in abilene this morning.

Now, the only logical conclusion is that either the truck is driving well below the speed limit, OR, the truck is making a stop at every diner, massage parlor, gambling hall, bar and brothels between LA and Dallas.

Why is it that you are told to arrive at the airport one hour before departure time, and then get to sit 2 hours either on the plane or in the departure area for them to call your flight?

Why do doctors and dentists use that old line, "This wont hurt a bit."

Why did the chicken cross the road?

And who in the hell was the idiot that came up with the brilliant idea of those impossible to open clear plastic packages?  You know the clear, hard plastic that is formed around some item.

Why is there always some jerk at the movie theatre who spends the entire time ruining the movie by either spilling the plot or pointing out mistakes?

How does the dryer eat just one sock?

Have male and female astronauts tried screwing in orbit?

Christine, you have mice in the attic.

About those hard plastic shells, how the hell are you supposed to bring it back if it doesn't work if you no longer have the packaging because you had to cut it into four pieces to get the item out to see if it would work. Followed by another 45 minute drive back to Best Buy. Grumble, grumble, grumble.

how the hell does it only take 4 days to receive a package from italy to canada???

when i cant get a package from the usa within 2 weeks????

its cause USA postal SUCKS SHIT!!!

LOL but nowhere near as bad as the one in Canada I have had letter mail take 2 weeks  to travel less than a 100 miles...  or as expensive  I ran a business here in Canada  and did a fair bit of buying and selling from the US... the problem is rarely with UPS  but with the Canadian customs Borders Agency that processes the mail coming across the border, I have had items coming in from the US sit there  for over a week waiting to be processed if your in a rush to recieve better to have sent by air or courier.. the airport custom agencies tend not to be as heavily used so can process parcels faster..courier companies get priority at the border inorder to get the trucks on their way again  where UPS mail can sit in the plant and get sorted in the plant and then reloaded onto a truck going to the next destination in the Canadian mail system...so more often that not  the problem is not a US one but a Canadian one with parcel arriving from the US
