Did I miss something?

Did something change in North Korea to warrant this?

What exactly has little kim done differently of late?

Or is this another "Mission Accomplished" stage act?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And WTF?
Did we change our stance dictatorships?Is Mr. Obama`s leadership roll in promoting talks with our enemies having it`s impact on the Bush administration.
Didn`t the McNeo-cons just recently bash Obama for suggesting we talk/negotiate with our enemies?
The North Koreans are cooperating about providing info on their nuclear program, and they are not pursuing it anymore.  I think it's a good idea to throw them a few bones.  I don't see any other way of getting them to become more open than by providing them incentives to change.  Capitalism and trade are the best way to do this.  We should be doing the same thing with Cuba, but unfortunately the Cuban exhiles have a lot of lobbying power.
"BEIJING - North Korea handed over details of its nuclear programs today, paving the way for its removal from the US terrorism blacklist amid years of efforts to persuade the North to abandon the atom bomb.
Six months behind schedule, officials delivered the dossier to China -- the host country for the six-nation talks since 2003 that have worked to entice the North to exchange nuclear weapons for aid and diplomatic concessions."
Since when does honesty have anything to do with how this administration operates?
If you're not willing to be a blind sheeple, there's really no point in discussing the issue further.
As far as Bush being hoodwinked ..
I think that folks have been so embattled over Iraq for so long they've plum forgot about NK.
Let's just say .. I'll believe it when I see it.
     Somewhere in a standoff, someone has to put the gun down or shoot.  The North Koreans have started to put the gun down, or at least eased off the trigger.
     Despite the admin involved, honesty and international diplomacy don't always go hand in hand.  More often it involves finding a negotiating point.  It would be foolhardy to remove our troops from the region at this point, but this is a start.
      The bristle at Mr. Obama's suggested negotiations were that he was planning to do so "unconditionally".  This negotiation is quite coditional, and would likely be withheld if the North Korean's withhold information, or if they are proven to be lying.  Based on the concerns posted here, that is pretty conditional.
Bomb them back to the stone age- Gen. Lemay
Considering that there has never actually been a peace agreement to end the korean war, just a cease fire, how can he legally do that?
Some of the '80s are still a blur to me... I do remember it had to do with the agreement to lower the total number of nukes.  It is still a valid strategy.
The US never actually, officially declared war on Korea.  We were part of a UN effort, but the US congress never made a formal declaration of war.  Until recently, it was a very sticky point for Korean War Veterans. However, as it was never a "War" it is quite legal to open negotiations.
The same issue was faced by vets of the Viet Nam era.
What is not included in the report is very revealing -
(from the OP's link)
"What's missing?
_The number of bombs in storage, or information about what's going to happen to them. The North proved it could build a working nuclear bomb when it carried out an underground nuclear test blast in October 2006. Details on the bombs, however, will be left to the next stage of the talks, when Pyongyang is supposed to abandon all its nuclear weapons program.
_Details about the regime's suspected nuclear program to seek weapons fueled by enriched uranium.
_An account of North Korea's alleged role in helping Syria build what senior U.S. intelligence officials say was a secret nuclear reactor meant to produce plutonium used in making high-yield nuclear weapons. Israeli jets bombed the structure in the remote eastern desert of Syria in September 2007. "
North Korea served its purpose.  This is more of a statement of expectations toward Iran.
        There were some very fishy things about the Oct. 2006 "detonation," Ven.  The North Korean bomb is no certainty.  Remember, they counterfeit our $100 bills quite well, and their glorious leader loves a theatrical spectacle.
          Would it drive all our resident Bush-haters into slathering frenzy if I suggest this particular hand of foreign policy might have been well played by the Bush Administration?
Bush could walk on water right now and it wouldn`t matter,he`s FUBR.
He`s categorically the worst president since Nixon and makes tricky Dick look like an angle.
Lol,it doesn`t matter anymore.No one believes a word the man says and really don`t listen to him anymore.
People are basically holding their breath,hoping things don`t get much worse,before he`s out.
In '09',we`ll see people who are now holding their money,start to invest it.Consumer confidence(now at a 20 year low)will turn around.It can only go up from here.
This will be the start on the long road to repairing the damage and putting our financial house in order.
To be fair,if you`re going to credit Bush for some sort of positive results on NK nukes,then he also gets the blame for NK getting "the bomb" during his terms.
That`s like crashing a car and then bragging about fixing it.
