My grandma made them with chocolate a time or two, but, I don't care for it. Sorry.

But ya know what? Who cares?

You like it. Enjoy it!  (said the girl who dipped her McDonalds french fries in bbq sauce and honey yesterday)

Pssssssssssst, Christina, old habit from Australia - I use mayo for my fries......  So ya ain't the "odd" one here! [:D]

That's what I was thinking. We used to go to a little German themed village (I think in Michigan) called Frankenmuth. They had homemade ginger ale and homemade rootbeer. I've never had any soda better.

Mmmmmmmm, nothing better, Nika. I've made several versions, from a quick overnight version (see my post under 4th of July Winter Picnic) to actual brewed where it takes a bit longer. I've also made my own beer, cider, wine, cola, all sorts of things. I love to cook, brew, bake, sew, domestic stuff......

xxblushesxx -> RE: Root Beer Floats...what kind of ice cream? (6/27/2008 8:54:07 AM)

*lol* Either me or the rootbeer and gingerale. So, do you go and watch the glockenspiel too?

mistoferin -> RE: Root Beer Floats...what kind of ice cream? (6/27/2008 8:58:15 AM)

Yes, lately it's been one of our favorite places to go. Sir lived in Germany for 6 years and he just loves going there. If you ever think about getting to the area let me know. We can go on carriage rides and shop til we drop...and eat chicken and cheese and fudge and ice cream floats and drink German beer and.....lmao....well you get the picture. Don't know how long it's been since you have been there but there is a fairly new mall. It's set up like a Bavarian village and the shops are really cool....plus they have a laser light show in the evenings.

Someone just mentioned strawberry ice cream in cream soda....will have to try that...

GentlemanBobIII -> RE: Root Beer Floats...what kind of ice cream? (6/27/2008 9:15:21 AM)

I know it seems redundant but my one friend used root beer ice cream in his root beer floats. (as Monty Python) and now for something completely different... theres a town here in PA called Selinsgrove, that makes a giant, like three blocks long, banana split every summer. It really draws the tourists. -Bob

GentlemanBobIII -> RE: Root Beer Floats...what kind of ice cream? (6/27/2008 9:25:59 AM)

If you like real beer you should try th Amish Rootbeer. It has a taste reminds me of beer they use a similair process w/o the fermentation of course, thats used in breweries. Theres a place outside Blue Ball or is it Intercourse? I am confusing the two, PA that has a giant windmill, and underneath that they have free samples of Shoofly pie and Amish Root Beer. WElcome to Lancaster County LOL -Bob

PS: Oh yes now I remember the order from a little saying my fire chief told me, Intercourse lies halfway between Blue Ball and Paradise erego it't right near Intercourse little bump in the road known as Saltzburg. -RCF

Come to Pennsylvania and find out, mist! *laughs and puts on her Amish/Mennonite clothing again*

GentlemanBobIII -> RE: Root Beer Floats...what kind of ice cream? (6/27/2008 9:59:49 AM)

Well no man or woman could  the towns are very different, it's only the order in which they are laid  out than can be confusing. Also on aside note there is also a town called Bird In Hand in the same vicinity. As I said before, Welcome to Lancaster County[:D] -Bob
