This quiestion is directed at non pro lifestyle people. How do you feel about people making money on our lifestyle. Is it " bottomfeeding and oppurtunistic", or are you okay with them.

It's people providing a service in exchange for money.

No different from a lawyer, a doctor, a kink store vendor, an author, a clerk, or any other profession.

Personally, I recommend going to someone in the lifestyle when I can recommend them. There are times I cannot. So then comes the kink friendly people.
It would be hard to deal with only lifestyle people for anything.
There are some bottom feeders both in and out of the lifestyle. Not all people into BDSM are saints. A fair number of them are business people that are as dishonest, and crooked as any others.
Sucks, but it’s true…
Of course, I do not see prostitution as a real crime either. Just a way for the government to deny sex to people who cannot get laid. Just think, if our governments legalized it, the tax’s revenues help cut our debts in no time… 14% of $200* all the dirty ole honry men in Canada = Debt Free in Two Years ;-)

That's a common misconception. A great majority of people who pay for escorts and prostitutes are in stable, solid relationships and are actually fairly nice, professional men.

If i were a star trek fan, id view prodom/mes as hologramme programme.

I feel they provide a specialist service that is not catered for in other area's of prostitution.

Id like to think that all professional Dom/mes, really were dom/mes that earn a living from it. Truly a professional. But i doubt it.

In female heterosexual mode, i can pull and get laid, almost gaurenteed. For male heterosexuals, its not quite a done deal. Dom/mes are governed by market force the same.
So your more likely to get it for free if your a female, than if you are a male submissive.

I was left with a bad taste in my mouth, when a male sub friend just starting out, was conned by a less than professional prodomme. But that wasnt prodommes per se, that was a bad person.

I am more than grateful for the Pro ladies. They are providing a much desired service to men that are perhaps unable to enjoy their interest by meeting women. Many are married, or have interests beyond what I might enjoy, and they can still enjoy an outlet by seeking someone out. Many also don't want to bother with getting to know the woman...they just want...what THEY want.

I will admit to recommending a Pro to most men that contact me. Their approach is more like they are making an appointment, versus having any interest in me. That type of man is not seeking to know the person, but only wants his own interests met. A Pro can do that for him, on his terms.

I asked a man to tell me "who" he was, and tell me about his "personality"...his response back was, "I'll like CBT and strap on." Which head was he thinkin' with?

Being a pro is a business, and they are providing a service, like any other...just as LuckyAlbatross pointed out.

I have no problem with pros. If there wasn't a call for them, they would not exist.

To be fully honest I did it myself for a while while I was in school, what other job can you do that makes you hundreds of dollars for a few hours of "work"? I had tons of bills and it helped to pay them. Maybe some would view that as wrong, but I wouldn't have done it if people weren't willing to pay for it.

I know that LOL Nor do I really think that taxing the sex trade workers (how's that for PC) would create enough revenue to clear a government’s debt in two years. They would just spend it.
Plus it would take 3 years… LOL

Personally I don't have a problem with prodomme's. Alot of men seek that.
I can't say as I like them using mediums like lifestyle forums, chatrooms to try and drum up business though.

If they want to take out a add in the yellow pages or pay for a website to advertise thats fine. Just the same as I really wouldn't care to have any lawyers, doctors, or any other profession trying to use these more personal mediums either.

You shouldn't include lawyers in that list............ With a few exceptions, (like Pink Pleasures) They pretty much ARE bottom feeders!

Pro Doms fill a need in our society, just as sex workers fill a need (I am NOT saying that Pro Doms are sex workers!). There are many, many reasons that men and women seek out Pros. Perhaps they aren't emotionally ready to commit to a relationships, perhaps they are looking to have a fantasy fulfilled, or perhaps some other reason. Being a GOOD Pro Dom is an art and these men and women should be respected. For the good ones, it's not all about the money; it's about providing service.

Remember, however, that the good ones are tainted with the reputations of all the Hookinatrixes (crappy hookers with a whip) that we see online and advertized in phone books. Check references...see how long they've been in the business...check out the play space. After all, this is a business and you should get your money's worth and be safe while you're doing it.

For the record, I think that GOOD sex workers should be respected. BAD sex workers also give the caring good ones a bad rep. There is art in sensuality and seduction if one chooses to find it.

Our lifestyle? Didn't realise having an interest in submissive men meant I'd signed up to some exclusive group with a special wee inclusive membership that any joe bloggs and his llama can claim as theirs.

Anyway I would say ask this question of professional dungeon mistresses and masters who have being providing a domination service for years to people desperate to take part of 'our lifestyle' when nothing else was available to them. Pro-domination has been around a lot longer than the internet and for many, spending time with a pro-Mistress was the only way to get their needs met. Many many scene players around now cut their teeth and learnt their skills at the hands of a professional B&D provider. Have some respect.

I agree with you that there are bottomfeeders and opportunistic people out there who see been female, claiming dominance and riding the bandwagon of internet moneyslavery and tributes are bringing not just professional domination but the alt lifestyle itself into disrepute. Are they professional dominatrices? No. But then are the majority of men who seek out this easy quick fix to their wank fantasies submissives? No.

One of my friends is a Pro Domme and I've learned more from her than anywhere else. the advantage is that with a "recognised" professional, they often have the experience in a variety of areas which thay can (if so inclined) teach. I have found that not everyone on the scene is willing to teach and some of the most available people who offer teaching have a reputation worst that Starlin & Hitler. When i forst looked at the scene I had a thought that may be interested in becomming a Pro Dom untill I learned more and realised that firstly I'd be lucky to break even as far as paying for the gear and expendables. I also quickly realised that I'd need something like 25 years of hard work to get sufficient experience and credability, Now if my Math is right, that would make me a possible Pro Dom just opening shop at the ripe (checks the underarm antipong) old age of 85. Perhaps that would gain me a listing in the Guinnes Book of records I dont know ... Ha! Rippleys believe it or not anyway.

There are a lot of people making money off "our lifestyle" (which may indeed legitimately be theirs just as much as ours). Writers, craftsmen, vendors, prodominants and prosubs, furniture makers, club owners, lecturers, etc. Is it bottomfeeding to spend time writing a book and selling copies of it? Is it opportunistic to make a few dollars running a club for BDSM folk to gather, socialize, play?

I don't think so. It's my choice to part with my money (or not) by buying books, toys, going to lectures, spending a Saturday night at a club.

Prodommes provide a service. If such a service is not what a sub wants and he is free and able to pursue a lifestyle relationship, then he should do so.

I have no problem with pro dommes. Rather someone curious go and find out if this is what they want, verses take the time of someone who is looking for a sub/slave.

Have been with a few who wish to try it out. Seldom is it what they expect or desire. They seem to think it means a gorgeous woman, dressed in a sexy leather outfit and boots, who will order them around and then screw. lol

This is what a pro domme does for a living. Dresses up and fulfills fantasies, for a price. From soft play to major pain. But its a job like any other. You will get what you pay for. Hopefully, they will be willing to pay more and work with a real pro.

i know that i have been ridiculed here for posting my opinions, but i had to reply to this and say i fully agree with starshineowned on what she said. what would happen to this free site if they allowed more advertising, be it lawyers, doctors, accountants, pizza delivery drivers and ProDom(me)s.

yes, i know, i am owned, but that doesn't lessen my feelings on any subject. after all, even owned subs have minds to think with.[:)][:D]

You know, i had thought about mentioning this myself a few times, but with all the negative responses i've gotten for speaking my mind...i refrained from it. it is a curious thought...why aren't there any pro subs out there...and, if any existed and got together with a ProDom...who would pay?
