Gerbils and hams are cool, but they are TOO small for a grownup.  A piggen is like a cat, sits under your chin, sacks out, purrs, and demands snacks in peremptory WHEEK.  They don't call us cavyslaves for nothing...

Wiggles likes to nudge my neck with his little nose  hehe and when I pet him, he makes a weird little sound...I don't know if it's purring or what...but it's cute! hehe he will squeal at times too when I'm trying to pick him up...I think he's afraid of being dropped. I think I pick him up correctly...not sure...I put one hand under his belly and one on his back...

aaaaccckkkk!  i'll just have to be petless if spiders are my only chance of non-allergicness.  fuck.  i like snakes but i hear they get stinky.  thanks for the input darcyandthedark, i'm going to check out what kind of allergies my Sir has and hopefully i can find a pet that will suit him...maybe a bird or a goldfish lol.  i don't care what it is, i just love having an animal to take care of.

Your welcome christine - just to also mention - birds won't be good for allergy sufferers either - I have two parrakeets - they are fantastic pets but being feathered and their poop aren't good particularly for asthma sufferers.  Their poop contains lots of nasty allergens(sp?) and when it dries it becomes dust.  Fish are great - I have had various from tropical to freshwater - I would recommend fancy goldfish and you can teach tem to be hand fed and they are very responsive to human contact inside and outside the tank - particularly shubunkins.

Spiders can shed hair, which wouldn't be good even for those without allergies because they can be and are meant to be an irritant.

Reptiles are a great idea and some larger lizards can be very loving.  But you gotta be ok with feeding live food.

I am thinking about getting another one. If I do, I'm gonna name him Pancake XD

Be very careful introducing to pigs in an enclosed environment like a cage - males don't always get on unless they are raised together and make sure it is a male - apart from the fact that you'll get lots of babies, females hips fuse between the ages of 1 and 2 if they havent given birth young, which means they have really bad difficulties and could die in labour unless you are prepared to take them for a caeser... and that is risky on a small animal.
Introduce them gradually and in the open so they have the chance to escape each other.

They have delicate spines so cupping them under the middle and supporting ther back under their bottom will be fine.

I don't have gpigs but have had chinchillas for five or six years.  As far as I'm concerned, chins are the best caged animals you can get.  They're cute, quiet, very gentle, and long lived (about 18 years).

That said, they are not as affectionate/personable as gpigs.

They do it for defense, shedding/shooting hair from their abdomens.  You then inhale the hairs or get them in your eyes and it reacts like a severe allergy like itching and burning sensation.
They also shed their skin to grow - happyhappy.

There are hairless gpigs called skinnypigs!  They have hair on their snoots and feet.  Adorable little guys, but delicate.

they're totally cute! I want one...they sell them at my local pet store but I'm afraid to get another animal from them...I got a hairless rat from them last year and she died within 4 months. :(
