FR: Its a lovely afternoon before a holiday weekend, I just balanced the books and we made a LOT of dough, sent everyone home early...and so.... Hang on, its gonna be a bumpy flight. 1. All this talk about "millionaires". You people don't think very big. A million bucks just isn't very much money anymore. Hell, an ob-gyn with a minimal drive and basic skills is good for career earnings (I'm talking "take home pay") of 15-20 MM over a 30 year career. That doc would have put away 1 MM by age 40, at least. Middle managers with stock plans in any Fortune 500 company should be able to put away 1 -2 MM by age 50 if they buy a house early and invest modestly (yes, even in the crap economy Bush has left us). Hell, Walmart Cashiers who work hard, stay employed and buy into the company's stock plan are worth a couple of mil at retirement. If you are really cultivating golddigging, you need to add some 000s to the numbers. Otherwise, you are just a cheap whore. 2. pissdoll posts a pretty astute analysis of one set of folks with wealth (or pretend wealth). Yes, there is a market for eye candy, and anyone who's attended a high-end charity ball or an opera opening knows the consumers are NOT just rich men -- rich women buy arm ornaments, too. On the other hand, anyone remember the Kurt Vonnegut story about "getting a chance with a girl" (anyone here read at all?). At the denoument, the pretty, fluffy, gentle girl tells the wounded bitter soldier "a chance isn't a new car or a fancy dinner. A chance is being well groomed, being respectful and making me feel like you want to be with me." Not bad advice c. 1963, and still good today. So it goes. 3. My real reason for bothering to post: Haven't you people figured out that EVERYTHING pinky posts is about her? She lives to see you copy her inanities and repost them and analyze them and reply. What's the worst thing the sadist can do to the masochist? Try it, you'll see. Happy 4th, y'all. E.
