I once got a snake bite (yes in my l'il garden here in the UK).
The bruise was by far the best.....black to deep dark green. The snake got me on my wrist and the bruise spread right up and around my arm. It looked like a very bad case of unequal arm wrestling.
My doctor drew a line around its edges with his fountain pen (no sharpies...he's an old English gentleman and anyway David Beckham's (sp?) ad campaign hasn;t taken hold here yet).
He said if the bruising goes over this outline my dear it could be serious. (My elderly neighbours call him Doctor Death......)
Eeryone assumed I had been beaten by a lover rather than a snake bite......even when I tell the truth someone thinks I'm making it up you know?

Hi Purple.

Bruising isn't an issue for me. It's a 'hard limit' for me, and if a man disrespects it, either he doesn't know what he's doing or he cannot respect my hard limits -- either way, I drop him.

Seems to me your Dom needs to hear how you feel about this -- and you need to decide if you can accept it. Sounds like he'd like people in general to be aware he hits you -- albeit consenually, but most people won't assume that -- and this 'kink' of his isn't really acceptable to you.

I did talk to him today. I told him again about how I felt very uneasy about the idea of having to show my bruises in public. I gently reminded him that 'nilla people don't understand, etc. He was receptive and I believe he will now go easier on at least my extremities. He agreed that he wouldn't want me to not wear shorts for 2-3 weeks and understood what I was saying. I felt really good after the conversation and was really glad I decided to talk to him about it before hand. It's not that I don't like to be marked, I do.. I just don't need the world to see.

Well, my Dom who i am broken up with recently rarely gave me bruises...but in th past i just made sure i didn't have any before doctors appointments....ha ha..the funny thing is they took my blood last week and gave me a big bruise in the crook of my left arm...duh!
