I had to put my dog to sleep this afternoon. Her name was Mickey and she was my best friend. Even though it was time I just can't stop crying. She was the sweetest and most gentle dog I've known. During the winter she would to outside and romp with the deer in the snow, she loved flowers and raspberries in the summer.
Not sure if the thumbnail will work or not.
My cat keeps looking for her.

Oh Camille, i am so sorry for your loss!!  i hope you keep the happy memories always, and that the pain of losing Mickey leaves you over time, replaced with the surety of knowing she is no longer suffering.

*hugs*

It is one of the hardest decisions a pet owner has to make.   ((Group Hug))

Putting a pet down is one of the hardest choices we ever have to make.

Thoughts and prayers be with you.

Putting pets to sleep is the hardest thing we have to do as loving and responsible owners.
I have had to do it several times, and each time my heart is riped apart.

hugs, and tears to you.

so sorry camille.....someone sent me this last july when i had my dog, razor, put down.  i hope it helps you cry and smile, as it did me.

A Dog’s Plea
Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.
Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me learn.
Speak to me often, for your voice is the world’s sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.
Please take me inside when it is cold and wet, for I am a domesticated animal, no longer accustomed to bitter elements. I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth.
Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.
Feed me good food that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.
And, my friend, when I am very old, and I no longer enjoy good health, hearing and sight, do not make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am not having any fun. Please see that my trusting life is taken gently. I shall leave this earth knowing with the last breath I draw that my fate was always safest in your hands.

I am so sorry you had to go through that. I had to put my baby down three years ago and I still cry thinking about it. Cherish the memories.

That made me cry more, but in a slightly better way. I feel so guilty, like maybe I may have misjudged her pain and discomfort. Maybe took away some of her time.
I'd planned on burying her out in our woods but when I saw her after um. Couldn't do it. No way could I have brought her body home, dug a hole then covered her up.

The entire time I kept seeing her running down the hill, her giant ears just aflapping in the wind and that totally goofy dog grin.
Now I keep catching myself listening for her, and the poor ancient kitty is just bewildered. Barney keeps sniffing around looking for Mickey. Keeps howling too but that could be just wanting fourths of mackeral.

I've never put my own pet down before and right now I don't think I could ever do this again.

I don't know what to do with all her food, almost full bag of dry. Her doggy treats in the jar. Or her bowls, she has one of those wooden bowl holders that keeps the food at mouth height.

Your baby always looked like she was smiling.
She looks like she was very happy.
And very content.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
And happy for you and for her that you had each other.
Huggs.

Oh camille, she was a beautiful baby!  My old girl died in my arms almost two years ago and I still grieve for her.

I hope that time and happy memories will bring peace to your heart sweetie.
