That's just silly.

I can see that logic is out of place with you-I'll try another topic.

Perhaps you should try a different brand of 'logic'... one that addresses things as they are, not as you wish they were.

Reading through all of the responses has been interesting.  I, like pretty much any American, am the umpteenth generation of immigrants to this country.  I don't have a problem with immigrants - I enjoy the cultural diversity - it is part of what makes this country such a blessing!  What I DO have a distinct problem with is those who are here illegally & take advantage of things that MY hard-earned tax dollars support - medical assistance, social assistance, and education.  Why should they reap the benefits of all these programs without contributing a dime themselves?  My children's education should suffer so that limited funds can be funelled to others who don't contribute?  The family down the street is on hard times - they work hard at low-paying jobs, but need some help.  They were turned away for food assistance - resources are tapped!  On the other end of the street are some folks that I know good & damned well are here illegally.  Guess what, they got food assistance!  Their kids go to the same schools as my own.  They get free lunch at school, too.  No, I don't think they should be left to starve, but I DO believe they should become CITIZENS & CONTRIBUTE.  Their paychecks are under the table - there are none of the deductions that I or any other American pay.  They don't pay land taxes or school taxes.  They don't contribute to the systems they are draining.  It's a very real problem - and not just for those of us along the border states.  Some of you seem to be ok with all of this.  I don't think it's right.  I don't think it's fair to those who are citizens, who need assistance, but who are turned away because the systems are overwhelmed with those who are NOT citizens.  Really?  You're ok with that?

pls note:  my use of "you" is not directed at whoever it was I hit "reply" on

Really?  Care to give the post numbers where whoever 'you' is actually said they were OK with those things?

Well, your brand of logic is illogic to ME.

Which makes further conversation quite futile-bye!

My brand of logic was pretty much taken from the US Supreme Court explaining the Constitution to overzealous authorities.. sorry you feel the need to give up on discussing that.

Exactly.

I don't understand how the illegals, particularly those who don't speak English even get the benefits they do, but I know it's happening. How does one who is so obviously not a citizen get social assistance? That's what I wonder about.

I think it's time we ended all immigration for 10-20 years and get any illegals deported in that time.
We need to change the 14th Amendment to the Constitution so there is no more "automatic citizenship by birth" and "grandfather it back to 1986 when we had that "One Time Amnesty".
No European country has that.
Ireland just did away with it two years ago.
Unless both parents are in the country legally, no citizenship for their children born in Ireland.

Errr... #11 is actually agreeing with you that there aren't enough resources to give everyone... the other two are saying there should be a better way than locking people out, but they don't really say that they are in favor of giving illegal immigrants services and denying them to US citizens.

Really? I had no idea that it could actually translate into a usable law! I agree. This would potentially stop many illegals from coming here. It would certainly stop the many young women I see at work from getting pregnant. I find it absolutely vile that these kids are getting pregnant just to up their chances of staying. Their lives are irrevocably changed - a parent much too soon.

John McCain says illegal aliens are "God's children."
Huh?
Can't they be "God's children" in their own countries or is it a "requirement" that you live in the U.S. to be one of "God's children?"
