I recently found out that my collar was a prelude to Daddy and I's engagment which I didn't realize untill a few months after he purposed to me.I don't wear my collar as I wear my engagement ring. Which means more to me than my collar since I never have to take it off.

so, out of curiosity, what do you do with the answers that you get to your questions? there was one on here last year who started threads like this, then posted the comments on his own website without our knowledge or permission...just wonderin........

When I was married, the ring felt like merely a symbol. Now that I'm not married, and now that I have a submissive girl, I feel no need to buy her a collar. It's almost a silly symbolic gesture as far as I'm concerned, but I respect all who believe it's more than that and incorporate it into their experiences.

Collars have meant various things when I have worn them. From a handy place to store a Dring for bondage, something to clip my hands to/hang me from a ceiling by/lead me about the place by/etc, to a sign of "this one is owned, don't touch". The "collar" I wear now was given to me by a friend, and means only that we are friends, nothing more. It's... refreshing, to wear friendship around my neck. Once, recently, I had a collar clipped round my neck by someone who was using it as more than a handy Dring, it brought up a lot of older issues I wasn't ready for, and need to work through before we try doing that again.

i believe that the actual gist of a collar would vary from couple to couple. i know for us that when i receive my collar from my master that i am his, body, soul and mind.

In terms of what he calls me, I'm "his sub" as opposed to "his girlfriend" or "his wife". But, we're friends, who have a purely platonic relationship, I just need a label, apparently :) As a point of clarification, he didn't give the necklace (which is what it is) to me as a collar per se, it just sort of turned into one over time, and we're both comfy with that. I've never spent a long time analysing it before.
