With more than idle curiosity, I surfed the 'mature subs ' section of this board's personals and found an apparent paradox; the mature appeared to retain a photogenic youth.

Why?  Is there something within BDSM and the resultant endorphin rushes that leads to longetivity?

So for budding PHd's, perhaps a doctoral thesis....."BDSM, nature's road to longetivity."  You have a critical mass
survey population within Collarme.com.   <Chuckles>

Imagine the amusement of the staid Oxford or Princeton Dons !!!  Publish your thesis and be elevated to 21st century Fruedian or Kinsey celebrity status.

Imagine the outcry from religious organisations and other societal watchdog bodies.   Further, imagine the greater outcry from pharmaceutical bodies as discretionary expenditure switches from high street retail to equestrian and leather sales.

And for the more adventurous scams- why not aerosol cans of endorphins !!

or maybe more and more people are learning the power of photoshop and/or taking photos that cast them in a very appealing light. I'd love to see such proof of longevity though, gives me hope for my future, since I'm starting young, lol.

Hey!  Seeing as I am living to 150 ( I know when I'm going to die, my birth certificate has an expiration date on it- Steven Wright) I have 102 years of looking, well, like I do now.

I imagine in 102 years from now, those on CM will say about me, "Geez, he looks like he's only like, 48!"

LOL.... interesting theory.   Might explain why I look younger for my age.  So I've been told time and time again.   I'm Dom with a maso streak.

Who the hell knows that the result of consistent endorphins release has upon the body.

Personally, When I look in the mirror I can see that I've aged some.  I might appear to be about 10 years younger, but I think that's a matter of my Gene pool.  Not the result of pain and endorphins kicking in.

50 is the new 30, dontcha know??

I don't know if I look young for my age or not.  My mother is 74 with hardly any grey hair.  Her mother hardly greyed in her 80s.  I pretty much know they weren't into BDSM.  I think it's the mediterranean heritage.  Definitely not Photoshop.  It was taken with a cheap digital and sent to Mr. Wonderful...and he had me put it here, cropping out some dangly parts.

Oh no..I'm not propounding a theory...LOL...just a whimsical hypothesis.

I'll leave it to a budding researcher to decide if it is capable of being formulated into a theory.

He/She will have great fun researching and testing !!

The 'beauty' of skin neurobiology.

The skin is the most densely innervated organ in the body and there is a close relationship between the skin and the nervous system. Most skin cells express receptors for neuromediators (NM) and skin cells themselves are an important source of NM. In particular, human keratinocytes synthesize neurotrophins and endorphins and express their receptors. In addition to neurotrophic activity, NM are involved in skin homeostasis, trophism and stress responses. NM released from keratinocytes also function in a paracrine fashion on other skin cells, such as Langerhans cells, melanocytes and fibroblasts. We discuss the influence of NM on these cells, which may be involved in major cosmetic problems like ageing, baldness and dyspigmentation. Based on this correlation, it seems reasonable to target neural factors for cosmetic purposes.

i think that stress is a big premature ager of people and maybe in this lifestyle we do alot of stress busting for each other - added to which we have fun and fun is good for you.

I agree with the stress busting and perhaps the reason many BDSMers look young is because a lot of people who participate in the lifestyle are doing something they love. They are happy. Nothing ages someone so much as an unhappy existence.

I think  heritage has a lot to do with it.  I don't look my age.  I shocked my group members when I revealed how old I am.  Until I had my back injury while working for retail, I could still do backflips and I was over 40 at that time.  Thank goodness for longevity and a background of really fabulous genes.  I would take that over youth and beauty any day.

I friend of mine has a theory about why some women age digustingly well

happiness ... and sex

When you feel good .. happy .. secure .. contented ... love .. you look good. I read a fabulous work in a science jounral recently about the well-being effects of a healthy sex life (healthy defined as regular, diease free, and mutually satisfactory) .. benefits included emotional stability, low stress, high immunity .. and in women a considerable improvement and maintained integrity of good skin. (we all know how much we glow after a steamy orgasm)

you could also factor in that a really healthy BDSM relationship has a focus on mutual well being .. well any healthy relationship actually. DV will be well taken care of and anything I can do to keep Him healthy, active, and stem the relentless flow of age ..., I will be doing.

also ... the twue submission hand book now comes with anti aging cream ... cos all twue submissives are 19, fresh faced, and have no limits
