Status: offline 		  That I don't know. Though I do know she goes into the hospital tomorrow and not due out til Monday as well. Maybe Potsie has more info.... I just know she was supposed to see Dr. Doom today.

I missed it too, at the time.

Okay I feel stupid (haha is that new??) but I don't understand how having her arm pierced with a door handle can be leading to potential amputation unless it just won't heal?
I'm worried about her.

Status: offline 		Camille, it was a very deep, extensive injury to the nerves and muscles from the sounds of it. The 4" handle went all the way in her arm, when she pulled out from the handle, there was tissue left on the handle. The doctor was saying that infection was likely due to the severity and that if it's bad enough, there aren't strong antibiotics to fight it, meaning she might lose that arm if they have to amputate for the infection. Remember, she lives on a farm in the middle of nowhere, she has cows and other animals which is why the doc thought that there might be some nasty bacteria around.

Nasty, nasty injury...... After working on an ambulance for so many years, I have a pretty good image of what it looks like.

Status: offline 		I wish I could do something for her, thinking 'good thoughts' leaves me feeling useless.

That was more graphic than I had anticipated but thanks for explaining. It is so hard to try and go back through these threads trying to find unknown posts! I figured the info was in there, but just didn't know what thread, or where.

I (and my family and friends outside of CM) will be praying for her and a fast recovery. hotty, can you send me a cmail and tell me more details of what is/has been going on?

Status: offline 		  Sorry, Camille. I actually tried to keep it simple and not too graphic. When I was studying to be an EMT, I used to get kicked out of the cafeteria at work because everyone would get upset at my text books.

I guess people had problems looking at things like eviscerations and then trying to eat spaghetti.....

Status: offline 		  I got kicked out repeatedly though. Not just over the eviscerations section. I even offered to sit by myself at a corner table and that wasn't enough. Personally, I'd prefer angel hair pasta with my sauce.....

Though there was the funny time when we were studying severe burns and we had blackened fish that day at the cafeteria.....
