I loved it.  The humor and emotions were subtle, but clear.  Pixar made me love the characters, which was incredible seeing how they avoided direct dialoge.  Pet liked it too.

I don't know if anyone else is a big Pixar fan, but I would watch anything they pushed at me O.o

I feel they proof a new, and difficult to capture, aspect of the real world with every film they do.

Toy Story - Basics
A Bug's Life - We don't talk about that one.
Toy Story 2 - (Along with Toy Story) Spheres
Monsters Inc. - Hair
Finding Nemo - Water
The Incredibles - Not sure... but I would say "human motion"
Cars - Perceived speed
Ratatouille - Also not sure, but it was a goodin'.  Maybe hair, fire, water, detail...
WALL-E - Making me smile

So WALL-E, then... Anyone else floored by it?

sad to say, i had to pan this movie. it wasn't really one of their best (so glad i don't pay to attend the movie screenings) kid-friendly moves. my youngest um found it be quite boring.

however this is one critic's opinion.

Yes, I will agree that children would not like it as much.  Most of the humor is too subtle for most children, and some adults.  Don't get me wrong... I was laughing and "awww'ing" the whole time, but not much more.

It had it's cute moments and I'd love to have a WALL-e of my own, but I was very disappointed in the movie.

I found it boring and felt the story was a tad too doomsdayish, not-so cleverly wrapped up in cutesy cartoon humor.

For purely entertainment it was ok. However, it was sad to think that our planet could and is moving toward a sad future state. From the reason that people left Earth to the lack of personal contact with one another. It was nice to see that we overcome the obstacles and the hope that all was not lost.

"One Man Band" being my favorite =).  WALL-E felt like a 1.5 hour short.  I didn't care for the human scenes.

It was a very scary thought, hopefully it helped awaken some people.  A similar thought was hidden away in a real sleeper, Idiocracy.  It's about a regular guy who is frozen for 500 years to emerge to an America no doubt the response to a current downward spiral in education.

It looks like we are in the minority...I liked it as well...BUT...I also liked “Get Smart” so that may say something about how sophisticated and discriminating I am with movies...lol

I watched this movie yesterday... and I think it's great for a kid's movie. It's one that they'll like to watch as they get older and they'll see the humor more and more, as well as the warnings. I had a better time watching Wall-e bustle around the city for the beginning of the movie than Will Smith in I Am Legend.

My reaction to this movie was slightly different.  One of the 'messages' in this movie that alarmed and offended me was that all the humans were all fat and lazy....and then...the VERY MINUTE they begin exercising (not even really...more or less just doing something...) they all become thin and attractive.

Personally, i think it's a somewhat dangerous (and completly false) message to send to society and children.

The whole time my UM's and i were watching it, i thought," They're not going to like this."  Turns out i was wrong. my little one asked if we could have the DVD when it comes out. (That's his stamp of approval on any movie)

My favorite Pixar short: "Knick Knack"  8.5 minutes of pure Bustrer Keaton-esque hilarity!

Naughty Angel: Poof! You you get your wish! Wall-E will be available this Xmas... fully programmable, or can be run via R/C... $189.00  retail.

I was a little put off by the "fat and lazy" aspect too. (The fact that the ship had artifical gravity should have negated the "micro-gravity" bone loss and muscle degredation.) But, this is a kid's film. The story is told pretty broadly so that even the wee ones won't have to be constantly asking Mom and Dad in the theater (loudly) "What's he doing?!"

I guess the right wing is getting all pissy about the movie. They think that it's a liberal attack on huge corperations, and consumerisim... (Yeah, they would think a kid's movie is a "commie pinko subversive" recruiting tool. How far off the deep end ARE these creeps?)

I must be a creep, then.  I don't think this is a kid's movie.  Most kids I've talked to haven't liked it.  I read so many reviews about how it's better than Finding Nemo that I had such high hopes.

Why was every human incredibly fat, unable to walk and lazy?  Because the robots kept them happy.  There were definite angles of anti-Walmart and consumerism in the movie - consumerism is how the planet got so polluted in the first place so it was made uninhabitable and humans had to flee.  There was some wry humor, I think, and social commentary within the movie, but when people started laughing hysterically when the human fell off of her gliding chair and couldn't get back up - like somehow a really huge person rolling around helplessly was hysterical - I didn't get it.  And when the ship tilted and everyone was falling, a' la Titanic - it was just disturbing to me.  Not funny.  I think the audience was grasping at anything to be amused. 

I think the works as a comment on society.  Don't get fat and lazy - don't depend on robots/computers to do everything for you - have some gumption and stand up for what you know is right. 

But as a kid's film, it fell flatter than a pancake.  The two 7yos that I had with me were bored to tears.

I absolutely loved Wall-e, it was so moving, so honest, and so deep, i think its one of those that is more for the adults than for the kids, but i know so many kids loved it.
Personally i didnt see it as, humans are fat and lazy but the second they start doing something they get skinny, i saw it was a cautionary for what can happen when you allow routine and technology to rule your life. Like with the character wall-e himself he did what he was programmed to do, but once he started branching out from that with Eve and their adventure he found exactly what he was looking for.
For me there was more honest emotion and feeling in the space/fire extinguisher scene, then there was in the rest of the movies that i have seen this year.

I thought this movie was great! The hooplah over the message makes me think there is a lot of "guilty concience" eating out the neurons in some skulls. Yeah, there are some satirical bumps at our American society, but mostly it's set dressing for the action... There a lot of quizzical head scratchers if you look close enough, like why do live action people turn into big fat globs? Why do the ship's inhabitants sway with the inclination of the ship? It shouldn't matter. It's all to serve the story. They did the same stuff in Star Wars, etc. Idiocracy is NOT a parable about the future, it's a hilarious dig at our near present! My conjecture is, to mass as much crap as is shown in both Wall-E & Idiocracy, man would have to already have mastered space travel to import that much crap! [;)] Basically, Wall-E is about Wall-E & etc. The postscript end credits carries further the story... and a last sec flash of the BnL logo at the end, has Pixar poking fun at itself.

Thanks for the heads up, Ill pass. LOL I need some Shue skin in my movies... LOL Well actually I need the standard guy list 1) Hot blondes 2) Car chases 3) Zombies 4) Explosions 5) Firepower etc...

I think thats a perfect message to send to kids.  (Not the hidden aspect that fat is innately bad and skinny is a virtue) It's like the VERB campaign. "Verb: It's what you do*"

Kids need a strong warning that if they jam their face into AIM and Collarme forums [:D] they will miss the world.

Bipolarber, we must remember that this is some 700 years in space, ~10 captains.  I would expect 25 generations of living on a cruise ship would do that.  Hell, I put on 2 pounds a day on an Earth cruise ship.

You have excellent taste in actresses ... but do you realize Shue is 44 or 45?  I thought that was out of your preferred age range.  [;)]

Let's see .. Hancock has Charlize Theron in it.  That should meet your guy's criteria.  lol
