Marriage isn't a desire to be fulfilled just because one has it.  That is what creates the desire for divorce. I stick with living true to who you are.  If you are asking us... this isn't being true to who you are.  To be true to someone else, you really need to at least have a foundation in who you are and what is fulfilling for you.  Would I marry someone for being devoted to me for a couple years?  No... I wouldn't marry for any other reason than it made sense for 'us' to be married and all the love and foundations supported such.

Would You marry your girl if that was the only desire left unfulfilled for her?? Esepecially after 2 years of devotion.

No, I wouldn't marry one of my servants if it was the only desire xhe had left. I might, however, at that point, be considering releasing hir -- if xhe's lost her desire to serve, then xhe doesn't belong in my collar any longer. Regardless of the amount of time spent in service, I am very clear that I am not interested in a romantic relationship, and have no intentions of marrying again, period, as I feel that the entire institution is outdated and irrelevant.

Simply having the desire to be married doesn't make it turn out right, take it from a fool who stumbled into that land mine. The time spent together before hand isn't really relevant either.

SteelofUtah -> RE: Marriage (7/8/2008 11:01:35 AM)

Some people seriously need to get thier panties out of thier asses.

It's a Question, just answer the question, to speculate is fine but to suggest that the Op is living through our decisions is a little uptight don't you think.

Personally I married my girl within a year of being with her. I married because I wanted to, I like the idea of civil unions and the sentiment behind it however I no longer feel marriage carries with it the bond it once did.

As for the time line I do not believe marriage is something that someone should ever do just because unless both parties are adament about the idea of marriage it should never be done because reguardless of the bond that marriage carries a Legal bond is made and that isn't something to go lightly in.

If you do choose to marry this girl because it is her last unfulfilled wish and you have no true desire to do so then I would suggest you sit down and tell her why you cannot marry her. In any event I hope that our feelings are dwarved by your own in this situation because there are two lives in this situation yours aned hers and we shoulc have no say on that at all.

Who cares, marry her if you want.  People have got married for worse reasons. Why the hell you asking us, talk to her.

You're a Marine and you don't know about manuals?  They had a manual for everything when I was in.

MidMichCowboy -> RE: Marriage (7/8/2008 1:15:23 PM)

I don't rule out marriage. But I won't be rushed or pushed or connived into it either. I hope that one day I will wake up and realize that without "her" (still to be found) my life would be empty. That the idea of waking up or spending a day without her, would leave me blank and void inside. That is when I will discuss it and hope that she feels the same.

These words sound like something I heard before

Improvise, Adapt, Overcome

And your hair is no longer than mine, ok well now it is cuz I just got it cut for my daughters Batizmal Saturday

MadRabbit -> RE: Marriage (7/8/2008 1:50:58 PM)

It's an archaic institution with the expectation of a life long commitment that only a small percentage of lucky individuals will meet. People are constantly growing and changing and marriage simply locks people into relationships that can eventually turn unhealthy. I won't advocate it to anyone.
