quote:
Watching a guy read from a teleprompter is being "involved" how, exactly? People come out, they hear his message, they are more inclined to vote come primary season. This event looks like it's just taking down one more barrier between politicians and voters. And how is attending a political rally NOT being "involved"? You're showing support for your candidate. These events are just glorified political handjobs anyway. quote:
Of course, Obama and the Dems would NEVER think of "packing" the arena.....nah, they'd never be that "theatrical".[8|] Packing the arena with who? Americans. Democrats. That's the whole point! They're SUPPOSED to want to "pack" the arena. Even if it isn't people who are interested in politics, they're getting their message out. This is what political parties do, they convince people to listen to them. That's no secret, and it is a good thing that they're "packing" the arena. Did you expect them to not try to get people to show up? quote:
Hmmm.....of course, by upending the media who'd planned to broadcast his speech to the country, he's not discomfiting anyone who couldn't travel to Denver to see the show live. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this, but I'm pretty sure the media is still going to manage to get out to Denver and broadcast this speech, even if it costs them a little more. quote:
Nah, theater is theater. Grandstanding is grandstanding. Tacky is Tacky. Obama is all three. ALL politics is theatre. That's why it's politics. This just happens to be theatre that supports actual human beings and their participation in the process Allowing more people to hear a speech live is REALLY the last thing I'd ever complain about. Have you ever seen a nomination convention that WASN'T over the top? It is ALL theatre.
