I wonder how the rest of the party feels about Obama's decision, it is becoming clear that many that would normally receive some attention during the National Convention will not get covered.

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0708/11606.html

Media outlets are already discussing limiting coverage of the convention to offset the costs associated with Obama's plan.

DomAviator -> RE: Obama to accept nomination in football stadium (7/8/2008 7:15:30 PM)

Well look on the bright side, it will disprove once and for all the conspiracty theorist whackos who say Bush attacked the WTC and the Pentagon if it doesnt get hit by any cruise missles... I mean if bush was in the cruise missle attack biz, that would be too juicy of an opportunity to pass up....So when Obama walks off the stage alive, Bush's alleged involvement in 9-11 will be vindicated...

Didn`t read any posts yet,but I`ll bet the resident republicans here are jealous, envious, covetous and sounding like player-hate`n sore losers.

They had to move to a larger venue. They needed a bigger boat......

The neo-cons only wish McGrampa could draw millions and millions of new voters and fill arenas like Mr Obama.

Obama rented and filled Giants Stadium, here in Jersey, during the primaries.
This is no big deal, eccept maybe for McCaininytes.

Now off to read the preceding posts and giggle at neo-cons....

Hilariously, for the past two months, it's the Republicans of the boards who have been the most obsessed with the goings-on at the Democratic party. Perhaps you enjoy gatecrashing the party, you naughty boys, you :-p.

It truly is a bizarre obsession, is it not? And comparing Obama's acceptance gathering with Hitler's rallies is the stupidest thing I've read since the last pathetic rightie-originated Obama thread.

Termyn8or -> RE: Obama to accept nomination in football stadium (7/8/2008 7:37:00 PM)

Y'know this post struck me as slanted, and I was accepting that others have different views, and there are republicans here, but you are a neocon.

You put your foot in your mouth right here :

"What is Obama going to do when Al-Queda strikes again? What is he going to do when Iran starts a nuclear arms race with Israel? What is going to do when he pulls out of Iraq and the government there collapses into civil war? Why wont the media networks ask him these questions? Why? Because they know he doesn't know how to answer them. "

Put those exact questions to McCain. (I really wasn't going to go there but now I am)

What is McCain going to do when Al Quaeda strikes again ? Simple, what the Bush administration did, bomb some random country that we don't like so well.

What is McCain going to do when Iran starts a nuclear arms race with Israel ? Simple, bomb them first. Create the money by tax cuts and crippling our industry even further with restrictions on greenhous gas emissions.

What is McCain going to do when he pulls out and the government there collapses into civil war ? Well you got me there, McCain is not pulling out. But there just about is a civil war going on anyway, so the solution would be another troop surge, and kill enough more of them so they can't wage war. Simple see ?

Why won't the media ask McCain these questions ? BECAUSE HE DOES KNOW HOW TO ANSWER THEM, and like his buddies, whio can afford to be flippant and full of hubris because they were born with money, he might just make the stupid decision to answer them. And if he does, he will not be the President.

You buy their bullshit, but I see it for what it is. And the problem is, I don't really disagree with you. Obama is probably very unfamiliar with foreign policy. That is not good. But with the choice that the powers that be bestowed upon us so graciously, I would rather have Obama.

I am still a racist (but not a bigot) and I detest half of the things democrats generally stand for, social programs and the like. But this time around, the republican would be a very bad choice.

And with his global warming bullshit, he totally lost me. If he'd get his nose out of his bosses asses and read something, and get into life he would see that the analysts are wrong this time, we are in a very deep recession. Oh, and all this about a treaty to reduce emissions ? Guess who is exempt ! China !

These people are flakes, democrats and republicans both. This lesser of two evils shit is getting old. Ron Paul is alright, but his stance on abortion is not timely, and not welcome even by me. I would ask the congressman how strongly he feels about it, and after the answer I would put this question to him.

Are you willing to open up a supposed abortion clinic, but it's really a hospital specializing in prenatal care, and offer incentives to Women who come seeking abortions, talk them out of it, pay for all that care out of your pocket and then adopt those babies ?

If the answer is no, you have no standing in my eyes. I don't care how much you would love, and try to enforce our Constitution, but if you won't blow your personal fortune on it, don't ask others to. That decision is based on religion, and has no business here. If you cannot accept that you have no business in that big chair.

This is 2008, we are in deep shit of all kinds, I could not care less about global warming at this time. In the future yes, but there is nothing we can do right now. We have alot more pressing problems I think.

Neither party has any valid solutions.

They're probably not asking those questions because they're pretty absurd questions.  What is Obama going to do when Al-Queda strikes again?

Um, what answer would you expect to that question? Bush's answer was "Kill the middle easterners."

I'd bet my account on here that you couldn't pass an American history test. You pick the time, minimum 48 hours from now so I can pull together some questions, and I'll post the questions. One hour time limit for your answers to all questions.

Iran just stated that they will continue to enrich uranium. This country is going to walk all over Obama just like they walked all over Carter. It's going to be a joke.

In Iraq, they are making real progress and the government said they now have Al-Queda cornered in Mosul and their numbers are dwindling. Violence throughout the country is decreasing. The surge has worked! 15 of the 18 benchmarks have been met. And the generals have said there is real progress finally being made. Yet, we are going to pull out and throw in the towel?

Al-Queda is still out there and capable of attacks. There is no doubt in my mind that they will attempt an attack on US soil. You can keep your head in the sand just like everyone was on September 10, 2001. But when they hit again and thousands more are dead, dont say you were not warned.

These are important questions to me and Obama wont answer them. Yet I am supposed to cast a vote for him because "he's better than that other guy running..." Give me a break. I vote for the person. There are things I dont agree with McCain on and I have issues with him. But with Obama, there is almost nothing he says that I agree with. Every time I listen to his speeches, he makes me cringe even more with his pledges to raise taxes and provide socialized healthcare. Yeah....that's how you fix the economy....rev up the taxes and the welfare! [sm=banghead.gif]

What you and others on this thread need to understand, Cyber, is that they won't need buses.  The Barry Bunch would walk.  Rain?  He could pack that stadium in a February blizzard.

Bring your NOBAMA sign, Celt, and you'd better hope like hell he notices you getting stomped by the crowd, and tells them to stop.

All the indications are that history will be made that night, and if the networks trim coverage, it will be Hillary who gets pre-empted.

I still have a lot of questions and doubts about whether Obama should be our next President, but if those committed to rejecting him want to win, you are going to have to do a lot better than this.  Start by understanding that the passion and energy of his supporters is very real.

I could care less how it affects Sen. Obama, I was merely pointing out that some of the voices that would normally be heard, I actually enjoy hearing the positions held by local party officials, you know sort of like how Obama made his entrance on the national scene... will not get the coverage they have deserve.

Not to mention that the extra money spent because of Obama's decison will affect coverage of the rest of the campaign season.

Hard as that may be for you to believe, it was not sarcastic.  I grew up on the southside of Chicago, in the heart of the Dem machine, so watching politics is almost engrained in me.

But do we know what McCain is gonna do in these situations other than tell them to stop (Actually, not even tell them to, because we don't talk countries we don't like.)

Do we even know what Bush is gonna do about it? It sounds like your problem has more to do with politics in general than Obama.

i would be impressed if Mr Obama had 2 speeches ready, one for the theatrical packed stadium performance, and a shorter one just in case it did start to rain.  i doubt that this would happen, i have only known one politician that cut his words short in consideration of the crowd's discomfort over the weather (Tom Kean, NJ Governor at a Commencement address at Fairleigh Dickinson University.  i think that it was 1983 cut the speech to a captive audience short.due to rain-He was under a tent).  i can't imagine Mr. Obama would be that considerate.

cyberdude611 -> RE: Obama to accept nomination in football stadium (7/8/2008 8:42:25 PM)

Not really...
McCain has said he would continue the war in Iraq until the government of Iraq is capable of governing itself. He has said he will continue the war in Afghanistan until all of Al-Queda have been found and the government there is capable of governing itself. And he has said he continue to put pressure on Iranian regime.

Obama has no plan with Iraq at all! In fact he just said last week is ideas on the war could change. All of a sudden because the war is making progress, he's changing his position. It just shows that this guy has no bearing on this situation and his opinion on the war is changing day by day due to the political winds.

Democrats on the other hand think the war on terror and national security is some kind of joke. Because of the radical-left, we no longer can take prisoners of war. Our soldiers have become policemen. They arrest people on the battlefield and those people now have to be given a civilian trial. This is absolute lunacy and if this is how we would have fought in WW2, the Germans would be ruling the world today. Im so tired of this crap.

You should lose the nazi references.

It`s insulting on many levels and makes light of a very ugly and dark period in history.

cyberdude611 -> RE: Obama to accept nomination in football stadium (7/8/2008 8:55:23 PM)

Doesnt make light of anything....

If we fought WW2 with today's rules of war....we lose. I fully believe that.... You think we would be allowed to drop nukes on an enemy? You have any idea how many Nazis we (and the allies) executed with military trials? We wouldnt have been able to do those type of things using the rules of today. Yet everyone cries about Gitmo.

Hey cyberdude at any time during WW2 did we ever attempt to codify how much torture was too much torture...apples and oranges make for lousy analogies
