LadyAngelika i wanted to thank you first for Your comments. not only have You presented Yourself as extremely open-minded, You have gathered experience/knowledge from those who live it first hand. i am a lesbian. i have children. i have a girlfriend that i have been with for 2 years. we have 4 children together all of which we have sole custody. marriage would be nice in the future. it is not something either of us take lightly nor will we rush into it, though we love each other dearly. our small-town community has a majority of people that do not agree with homosexuality, gay or lesbian wise. but having lived openly here for the past few years, they have opened their arms to us. they have seen us attend events openly, lovingly, with all our children in tow. they have complimented us on our parenting skills and how well-behaved our children are and how well they all get along. maybe small minds can change. i think homosexuality isn't necessarily feared, but it is another means to control a minority group, i.e. women, african americans, hispanics, etc. another way for businesses to save money by not having to cover someone's lesbian lover...by not having to hand over partner benefits to us, etc. now mind you, i do not think i have any rights to any benefits that would follow my partner's demise as i have not been with her that long. but those of us that i know personally even, that have been together for 30 years through good and bad....THEY DESERVE IT. i see a lot of posts here replying that Yyou all support the right for gays and lesbians to marry. but how many of Yyou have actually voted to give us that right? and just for the record, without being married to my partner, when we file our income taxes and we each claim 2 children, and each claim head of household, we get back enough between the two of us to buy a NEW NICE VEHICLE each year. so as far as i am concerned, that is payment enough fo that lack benefits, rights, etc. i apologize if any of this is taken wrong, however i do not apologize for my stance. sincerely sothernnyte
