i notice there are  Dom/Dommes on here that do not capitalize their name, and a few subs that do capitalize theirs.   i suppose if someone is new when they open the account they may not even think about it when they create the account.  Regardless of the reason though i notice that if a D has their name without capital i just automatically take them less seriously as a D.  Perhaps it's just cause i view them as less experienced, i'm not sure exactly the reasoning perhaps because it shows they are not familiar with various aspects or protocols which creates trust issues.   i don't claim to know much about protocols  and i'm definitely not very good at the entire capilitizing and such however i'm a submissive and am willing to be trained in anything protocols, rules or anything else for that matter a D wishes of me.
So i am curious what others think when they see a Dom/Domme with lowercased name, if it changes your first impression and overall view of them?

Honestly...when anyone doesn't capitalize her name, I think less of her. In my mind, a proper noun is a proper noun, regardless of orientation.

Kinda like when someone misspells the title of a thread.

How do you capitalize someone's name when you're speaking to them face to face?

My name is lowercased on the forums, but it wasn't done by choice; if you check my profile, it is clearly capitalized. (I'm a slave, but, this does happen to Dom/mes.

Many times accounts have resets performed due to technical issues, and the names get lower cased. That is what happened to me.

I would never blow anyone off by how their name is capitalized or not. However, if within the forums, they did not refer to themselves with capitalization present, I might look at them confused, but shrug it off.
It does not make them any less of a person in my eyes.

if a D has their name without captial i just automatically take them less seriously as a D.  Perhaps it's just cause i view them as less experianced, i'm not sure exactly the reasoning perhaps because it shows they are not familier with various aspects or protocols

Just because someone does not know (or chooses not to respect) chat room protocols does not mean they are a crappy dom in real life.

OMG, I just wrote "dom," not "Dom!!!!!!"  Proof positive that I am not a true dominant.

Totally serious, shadow, that has to be one of the silliest filters I've ever heard.

Overall view? Nope.
Initial impression? Somewhat.

Initially, I was exposed to the case thing when chatting on another kinky message board where there wasn't easy access to profiles and color codes such as the who is viewing me here on collarme. It helped then; but now - it's just one of many clues as to a person's experience and inclination. Something from which to begin an initial impression, no?

To answer your question ,I don't cap my name,I did up until about 5 years ago when in a chat room several of us older dom types decided to lead by example, caps don't mean a damm thing or even the protocols of doing so started in cyber land. With over 40 years as a Master/owner  I don't need caps to prove any thing..AS always just the views of this ol' master...bounty ..

Capitalisation has no effect on how much I trust or rate a D type's Domliness ... plenty of people capitalise my name in posts ... does that mean my slaviness is under question?

While I do not capitalize references to me (as seen right there) I do capitalize my name (and I, respectively, as seen right there).  In short, I attempt to use proper English grammar where and when I can.

My Pet (Which is capitalized together because her name is "My Pet") uses the split capitalization, which I referred to as "G/grammar"  I thought it was a witty way to refer to it.  She does this of her own volition because it reminds her of her place.  I didn't like it at first, but I grew to deal with it, and eventually grew to expect and like it.

Let me get back on track and specify why I posted.  You said you respect dominants (I also don't capitalize the word dominant, outside of the phrase "D/s") less if they don't capitalize their names.

Do you mean their name and any reference to themselves or dominance, or just their name?

Less of as a person no, just less Dominant but  this of course is just first impressions.   Yes i know i spelled the thread title wrong :P   i have no idea how to fix it.   i'm terrible at spelling and rely on spell check which skips the title of the post.
Face to face is obviously an entirely different matter lol.

Capitalization no more makes you a Dom than standing in a garage makes you an automobile....although spending time in chatrooms and doing so makes it hard to write e-mails to vanilla friends without capitalizing Me and My etc. bad habit and hard to break.

You are inconsistent in your capitalization.  If My Pet started doing that, I wouldn't know if sentences starting with "i" were special anymore.

I find that the ideas that spew forth from someone's brain is more telling of what they're like than whether or not they capitalize their name, my name or the Pope's.
