my ex, while being separated, thought since i didn't work at the time that he deserved to have the car though giving it to me. so during the middle of the night, he "stole" the car back.
that was 3yrs ago. despite being somewhat upset over how he did it, i'm happy that i don't own a car. no insurance or high gas price to pay (especially in Chicago - it's about $4.35 to 4.50 depending where you go).
public transportation here is reliable (at times) and some routes run 24/7 which is beneficial to me when i come home around 3 or 4a. and as a added bonus - the bus stops are very close to my apartment. in one direction, i can arrive to Midway and in the other direction, the nearest hospital, ER, oldest's neuro clinic, museum, shopping, etc.
more importantly, the areas in which i frequent most venues where the bands perform have no parking and/or you need a permit. i don't have to get frustrated looking for a decent parking space as close as possible - the train and/or bus gets me close to where i have to go ...no problem.
yes it's rough standing on the bus when the winter winds are blowing and snow's hitting your face but i love that type of weather.
